I saw it coming in the 80s. MTV helped by showing many music videos promoting effeminate males (many european) wearing heavy makeup, women’s hair styles and clothing.
Bowie wore women’s clothes as much as men’s.
Actually Alice wore women’s s clothes in the beginning because they had no stage clothes of their own.
Couldn’t afford them.
A 60s girl band they were friends with gave them clothes to wear.
Strange but true.
