Yes. Of course. The search for meaning. The search for purpose. The search for reason. It's this need for us to reach beyond ourselves that is one of the profound reasons why we can't be happy as a commune. We need to see the universe, and ourselves in it, as individuals.
That said, your point about how many god-like entities the human mind has envisioned is a great example of what I was trying to say. We are too little to truly understand the reality of the universe, the reasons we exist, or the nature of existence. There are no intellectuals. Only those too delusional to grasp and embrace with humility their own smallness.
