The real threat is Libtardism
I hope he got BANNED.
The use of yew for English/Welsh longbows, depleted European forests of yew. Still today the best available yew comes from North America.
I think this statement slightly incorrect. The Greens were formed to support the Green politicians, as much as anything. And could actually care less about forests. Except during television spots.
An anecdote ---
I was at the Nollendorfplatz, for some shopping a couple of years back, before we moved home to the states. I saw a Green politician doing an interview with a reporter and cameraman, give and take "photo op time." When she was done being nice on camera, a constituent came up to her to ask some sort of assistance with something, and she blew him off so rudely, all the passers by including myself made note of it.
A second anecdote. A nearby neighbor from that time was a Green Party guy sitting in the Bundestag. He was a slob, didn't follow the recycle rules of the house, and was thoroughly disliked by the neighbors. On TV, he was an epitome of super nice, but would blow you off in private.
The Green politicians are not what they claim to be. rather like Democrats and RINOs.
Interesting. Thanks. I studied in Germany as part of my college period. Back then I met quite a few ex-Wehrmacht fellows who told us stories of the old days. I imagine almost all fof those guys are gone now. Take care.
Yes—exactly. The true observations are of the end of a 200 year mini-ice age which was ending during the time of Washington’s crossing of the Delaware River during the Revolution. The river that night and morning had begun to break up it’s frozen over status— into blocks and chunks of very noisy breaking up and flowing ice.
The noise of the ice movement covered up the movement of the crossing Continental Army, which was supervised by expert boatmen from Gloucester, MA (whalers and fishermen), and included the dismantling of light wheeled cannons. The men suffered greatly in the very cold night and morning.
The Delaware River has not frozen over since that time but is showing increasing freezing for the last several years. It is an observation of ONE- but many others can be described. We are headed for an uptick in the interglacial period— with another mini- ice age.
The energy traders, hoarders and middlemen position themselves politically to gouge prices and inflate them and will until people pay attention. If they ever will.
“... end of a 200 year mini-ice age ...”
Roughly 1300 to 1840 so $500 years!
Typo - Fingers got aways from me!
$500 should be 500 years!
If you are saying that they cannot change those who are true believers, then I agree, to a degree. I've known people who were firm believers, who experienced one or more traumatic event such as the loss a child and began questioning & ultimately abandoning the Lord. Most returned to the Lord, but not all.
We obviously do not have the capacity of the Lord, because there are many things we do not understand, but that is a whole different conversation.
Our hubris, thinking that we're too sophisticated for spirituality and God is laughable.
Of course it is, but it still happens nonetheless. We see evidence of that in many ways, both in current & past times, and we see that others are influenced by these people who believe themselves to be God's amongst men.
But that is exactly my point. When we no longer recognize that their is a higher being than man, then men can anoint themselves as such, and others will follow them as being that.
Also true 500 years stated. During the 1800’s occurred the year without a summer— caused by a massive volcanic event the dust spreading over the world. Terrible agriculture loss, and starvation in Europe and the US. Which WAS climate change which could not be prevented. These climate clowns are all of them opportunist liars.
Those sound like an assembly of photo captions.
Reminds me of this...
“I told myself it was beneath my dignity to arrest a man for pilfering firewood. But nothing ordered by the Party is beneath the dignity of any man. And the Party was right: one man desperate for a bit of fuel is pathetic; five million people desperate for fuel will destroy a city. “ —from Dr Zhivago
Agree!
That doesn't mean that a lot of hurt and destruction won't occur first.
Played by Alec Guinness as Zhivago’s half brother, a secret policeman- who is the overall narrator of the story of Dr. Zhivago (who is looking to find the lost daughter of Zhivago romance with Lara. He finds her at a power dam site at the end of the movie, and she can really play the balalaika!) Quite a story, banned by the Soviets as a samizdat illegal book.
Great quote. Cold is a central theme of the movie- people all freezing to death.
I don't even think I marveled at life or the Universe, it is what it is, I would tell myself. I was too occupied with living & enjoying life, to bother thinking about it.
Then for some reason I started actually thinking about it, and realized this isn't what it is, it is the creation of a being that I can't even fathom, let alone understand. So, that started by journey to learn more about our creator.
I don't get the reference....
I worked with two, decades back. One used the verb "conquer" when discussing WWII, as in "when we were conquered." Auf Deutsch, of course.
The second tried to get me interested in playing Skat. Wasn't me thing, and still isn't.
A fascinating book about those days, if I might recommend.
"They Thought They Were Free - The Germans, 1933-45, by Milton Mayer, and available in reprint fro UChicago. Got mine used, cut price.
https://press.uchicago.edu/Misc/Chicago/511928.html
Excerpt which seems so apt for today also: "This separation of government from people, this widening of the gap, took place so gradually and so insensibly, each step disguised (perhaps not even intentionally) as a temporary emergency measure or associated with true patriotic allegiance or with real social purposes. And all the crises and reforms (real reforms, too) so occupied the people that they did not see the slow motion underneath, of the whole process of government growing remoter and remoter."
The unfortunate Europeans will have to rely on their pitch forks and clubs.
I merely meant that’s what the following disjointed sentences read like, a series of photo captions. Nor was it a complaint.
Men and women cut a tree at Tiergarten with Sieges Saele monument in the background. Tree falls and the monument being revealed. A child waits by a baby carriage as the mother gathers wood. Mother puts wood in a perambulator. A boy and an old woman sawing a tree. A woman chops at the stump of the tree.
