Governor Ron DeSantis of Florida appeared to take a page out of former President Trump’s campaign playbook on Friday with a visit to a Dairy Queen in Des Moines, Iowa. However, unlike Trump’s rallies, which drew large crowds, DeSantis’ stop at the ice cream chain drew a muted response.
n an attempt to connect with Iowa voters, DeSantis visited the Dairy Queen at Des Moines, ordered a Blizzard ice cream treat, and answered questions from the few present journalists. His visit seemed a clear nod to a Trump tradition – the former president was known for his fondness for fast-food joints during his campaign tours.
Unlike Trump’s event which was flooded with fans and onlookers, DeSantis’ visit saw a sparse crowd and a lack of the fanfare Trump was renowned for.

Trump also campaigned for Kari Lake, Herschel Walker, Dr. Oz and others who lost, he did back a few who won but the Senate is democratic right now over candidates that Trump supported who lost.
The blogger is comparing a rally to a fast food restaurant visit. Trump's way ahead of all the Republican candidates. Why this desperately distorted comparison?
Damn. I was going to post that stock-in-trade response. I was too late. But, called it!
“DeSantis outing himself once again as a complete putz.”
The irony.
Nope, it’s the guy who pulled the trigger first and constantly who is the...jerk.
Or is DeSantis that tone deaf or cheap.
I thought you were analogizing to Biden and his ice-cream cones.
only one problem. Can’t have two people from the same state on the ticket.
One thing about Kari Lake is that she is appreciative of the people like Trump who have been there and supported her when she needed it.
She really doesn’t back down.
Well if a politician visits a Dairy Queen, he/she should buy ice cream cones.
Please clap. What was Karl Rove thinking?
So Biden was OK and not laughable?
Face it, Ron is always gonna be a one-scoop man.
But she lost, appreciation and support means nothing if you can’t win elections.
Trump lost Arizona in 2020 and the Democrats swept all the important races in 2022, people need to ask what are we doing wrong or not doing at all when the Democrats are kicking the Republicans butt in a place like Arizona.
The narrative implied in that quip is that he’s copying Trump. Which is nonsense - lots of candidates for a very long time have tried to “mingle with the masses”.
He looks and sounds like he could be owner/manager of the DQ but presidential candidate, not so much.
Did Biden buy patrons ice cream at the ice cream parlor?
Of course not, just like DeSantis.
arizona was lost because the mccain republicans control the state, and have been likely having dirty elections for decades.
And they would rather lose the state, than have Trump or MAGA / America First candidates win office.
And they certainly couldn’t have the last slate of candidates win in Arizona, investigate and expose their history of corruption
Arizona was also lost because Kari Lake told McCain supporters at her rallies who might have voted for her to “Get The Hell Out”....
Republicans also lost in Arizona when they told all their voters to vote on election day, strangely the voting machines in key Republican precincts were down on election day.
The issue is 100% MAGA supporters think every time they lose it’s because of plot against them, when in reality they are their own worst enemy, by pissing off potential voters and dumb get out to vote strategies or lack of any strategy I should say.
He was explicitly copying Trump- his handlers wrote lame quips for him.
Exactly. FWIW, the DeSantis campaign is the same.
