Yeah, he really did that. Folks, I’m not sharing this to be snarky about Ron DeSantis per se’, this isn’t actually his messaging. It’s worth looking at this through the prism of who is operating the management, branding and communication effort. This level of ridiculous religious pandering is stunningly identical to Ted Cruz in the early 2016 GOP nomination.
The DeSantis campaign knows they need to target evangelical and faith-based voters. Put a group of people who are not actually centered on the principles of faith in charge of a political campaign, tell them they need to appeal to faith-based voters, and this is exactly what you get.
The DeSantis campaign organizes what should be an interview with friendly allies in the Christian Broadcasting Network. [Full Interview Here] CBN’s David Brody then interviews Ron DeSantis asking him what historic figures he would associate himself with. DeSantis’s answer is so far beyond pandering cringe, it makes you seriously wonder who constructed this messaging for him [likely, Jeff Roe]. WATCH:

He did NOT say that!
This is a false characterization of what he said.
Another disgusting DeSantis hit piece from that site, but this one is particularly revolting.
DeSantis is speaking glowingly of Jesus’s disciples, and that “he would have loved to have been back there with them” as an answer to the question of what historic figures he would liked to have been associated with.
He is showing the greatest of admiration for them. Yet, somehow, that is twisted into something inappropriate, as if Jesus and his disciples are not to be looked upon as the greatest men of all time, or that no modern man could have possibly wanted to support Jesus at the time had they been there.
Find me a video of Trump saying anything positive about Jesus, much less claiming that he is the Son of God. I’ve looked, and all I can find is one time Trump said he was a good man who showed strength dealing with adversaries. I’d like to see more if it exists, so please bring it, if you can find it.
The long knives are out.
This kind of nonsense is common place. They (left and right) twist everyone’s words every election cycle.
Verify everything.
Here ya' go.
“None of the Apostles carried a begging money bag”
They had their financial supporters.
MAGA chose him as well as the Electoral College.
So Trump is so vain he thinks he can compare his fame to Jesus? How about this one:
Trump shares Truth Social photo declaring himself second only to Jesus
What utter nonsense.
So it appears that Sundance is clueless about being a disciple of Jesus. In Matthew 28, Jesus commissions His disciples to go and make more disciples. Any faithful follower of Jesus is a disciple, and to identify with the first disciples defines how fallible men and women should follow Jesus.
Sundance is obviously an evangelist for a modern cult.
So you don’t have a problem with Trump proclaiming “I am the chosen one” but are upset that DeSantis said it would have been great if he could have served as a disciple of Jesus? That’s what it looks like.

Do your own reading and thinking. Look at the whole, not just a little thing that tickles your ears.
Watch the video, Trump turned towards the sky and declared HE is the chosen one. But DeSantis saying he would have liked to have served Christ to his death upsets you?
People who know the Bible, and are true followers of Jesus the Messiah, will hear DeSantis’ words and hear authenticity - those that hear something else are ignorant of the words of Scripture.
You have NO problem with DEE-Saintis playing holy holy holy... DEE-Saintis is Catholic, you know, like godfather Joey... It is allll about Mary, Mary, Mary. Jesus is second fiddle to the Catholics ... They deny the worship of Mary Mary Mary, but she is the one HAILED.
I married into a Catholic family and DEE-Saintis claiming to want to be a disciple does NOT fit the Catholic narrative ... He is playing religion, cause his campaign manager is writing his script..
I am not taking sides on this thread. Already a Trump supporter.
The attempt to link to religious people is dangerous for any candidate other than Trump, including DeSantis.
Look at some-—not all—the books about Trump and God.
More than book find coded message words in the Bible predicting Trump would lead the US someday.
