Yes YouTube channels have commercials the more those commercials are played the more money the YouTube creators make, so someone constantly posting links from that channel on other sites is pushing people to watch the channel and helping the owner make more money
Basically you are promoting a YouTube channel for profit is what he’s accusing you of doing

Broadcast media: NBC, ABC, CBS, CNN, PBS, FOXNEWS, etc. consistently post videos that using advertisers as well. I just discovered commercials occur on videos [just discovered our credit union is now appearing at beginning of youtube videos!]
To go a step farther, the more written articles that are posted by media news outlets is form of advertisement for their product.
Personally, I prefer free-market capitalism to the state government intervention of communism.
