The lyrics to Tusk
Why don’t you ask him if he’s going to stay?
Why don’t you ask him if he’s going away?
Why don’t you tell me what’s going on?
Why don’t you tell me who’s on the phone?
Why don’t you ask him what’s going on?
Why don’t you ask him who’s the latest on his throne?
Don’t say that you love me!
U-C-L-A sucks!
Just tell me that you want me!
Tusk!
U-C-L-A sucks!
Just say that you love me!
Tusk! Tusk!
U-C-L-A sucks!
Tusk!
U-C-L-A sucks!
Tusk!
U-C-L-A sucks!
Tusk! Tusk! Tusk!
U-C-L-A sucks!
Tusk!
LOL!
Read it in a review some years ago.
Whichever one she is singing at the time...
yep Mona Monochromatic with a 3 note range in middle octave— truly a ONE NOTE Samba singer who sings through her nose. Buckingham Nicks was an interesting duo- Buckingham was a bluegrass banjo picker and Stevie- a banker’s folkie daughter. They loved the free love orgy that was Fleetwood Mac- Mick and all his girlfriends/ sometimes his wife even.
Talentless “singer” otherwise, who got the idea of her raspy voice from Betty Davis Eyes singer— another forgotten nobody.
Which was with Lindsey Buckingham as Buckingham-Nicks long before the Mac.
Bonnie Tyler. I hate that song also. If I want raspy voice singing I'll listen to Janice or Beth Hart.
Nicks? She can't stay on pitch unless she is backed by Christine McVie. And range? She has the range of a BB gun.
Other than that...I have no strong feelings one way or the other. =;^)
I though she died a week or so ago..
Loved seeing her and the band in the 80s at Columbia Gorge Amphitheater. Cloudburst just as concert ended; we all got soaked.
Bonnie Tyler. I used to refer to her as “Rod Stewart’s grandmother.” And we used to refer to that song by title, with “eyes” replaced with other parts of Betty Davis’s anatomy.
‘Betty Davis Eyes’ was released in 1981, seven years after Stevie first recorded with the Mac. Kim Carnes was not widely known before the song. Bonnie Tyler, who also has a raspy voice, recorded ‘It’s a Heartache’ in 1977, over two years after the release of Rumours. You might want to reconsider who was imitating who, if indeed any of them were....
Correction: I realized after posting that Bonny Tyler, Rod’s Grammaw, did “It’s a Heartache”, way raspier than Betty Davis Eyes, which was Kim Carnes.
Didn’t pay her much mind until one day I was visiting a wounded soldier in Walter Reed during the Iraq War, and learned that Stevie Nicks had just been there roaming the halls, donating CD players to patients. Props!
Yes... I remember she was doing USO type work in that period. Props indeed!
I saw her in concert in Knoxville, TN a couple of weeks ago; it was great. I was surprised the audience was comprised of “kids” in their 20s on up to probably in their 70s. My son reminded me she played Bonnaroo last year where she picked up a younger fan base.
Sorry if a long ad comes up first . . .
Makes no difference— both are lousy singers was the point.
