“Masks are as effective at stopping the virus as chain-link fences are at stopping mosquitoes.”
But they are good at keeping one from being identified.
Thanks for the reminder.
LOL I had a similar experience at work. We were forced to wear the idiotic things in our building, but as soon as I got to my desk, off it came. Somebody came over to see me about something and literally started - jumped back a little, and eyes going wide - when she saw that I wasn’t wearing a mask. She asked her question and I answered, and she couldn’t get away from my cube fast enough. It was then that I realized I had discovered an actual usefulness for the stupid things.
Yes,
These things pick up inertia and there is no stopping them.
Why?
When the interests of business and government converge, thing can get stupid.
Bureaucrats and politicians wanting to each outdo the other, will take it to extremes, see Cuomo as an example, or Biden with his vaccine mandate. It becomes a frenzy of stupidity and there is no one out there pulling the breaks.
People today have given up on thinking. Even here in the Free Republic.
During all this Covid lunacy, I had someone stating they were a physician tell me I was reckless and irresponsible for going to Destin to the beach with the wife. I asked him if it was the salt water, UV light, sand (horrible surface for the virus), high temperatures, fresh un recirculated air, or fact that people naturally spread out on the beach which I need to worry about?
He never gave a logical argument or explained his position.
It was just you’re reckless and irresponsible for doing that - do as you’re told.
There is no rational/logical argument to be had, not even with so called experts.
Oh I see them in my neck of the woods. They are in their own little world in their vehicle. The ones I shake my head over are the ones literally outdoors in great wide open areas no one nearby for miles and they are still wearing them.
Seems to be fading out a bit, but I used to like watching oncoming traffic for mask wearers.
The majority were alone, and driving Tesla EV things.
Got to be a connection there........
At the VA hospital in southeast L.A. it’s “masks required in designated areas” and there’s not that many designated areas.
But at the VA in west L.A. they’re required inside all the buildings.
Go figure....
I only wore the masks when required at clinics or hospitals. At the end of 2021 I had a scan which the nurse told me would take 15 minutes. Unfortunately I forgot to pull the mask below my nose so I could breath better and I couldn’t move during the scan. I thought I would suffocate lying on the table until the scan was over. Longest 15 minutes of my life.
I frequent a local park and public garden on the weekends. I see masks there a lot. On kids. Outside.
Sometimes the whole family is unmasked except the tween girl. That’s social contagion at it’s finest.
Others they have really little kids and they are all masked.
And of course, the general maskers.
There are STILL people in CA. with the damn masks on OUTSIDE, these are completely brainwashed sheep OMG!!!
They are compelled to show total obeisance and devotion to der state............
Longtime hospital volunteer here. We were furloughed all through 2020, came back in 2021 with strict mask rules. Finally, as of April 3, 2023, we no longer have to wear them.
Come to Asia! 95 to 99% of the people are still wearing masks! Just had a conversation yesterday with a local… I told him about the studies but he would not hear of it. LONG LIVE THE MASK! It is sad. The children are all still muzzled up in this country. The only ones I figure who are not wearing the masks are tourists or those from foreign countries working here.
over 12 years ago in Honolulu, it was common to see Asian women wearing masks while walking or driving.
Was told it was just an Asian thing.
Covid joke: “I walked into a bank not wearing a mask, everyone hit the floor.”
Granted we don’t have a huge asian population, but they were the only folks wearing masks prior to covid here in New Mexico.
Yeah it’s a thing in Asia. If you watch the Bond flick You Only Live Twice (1967) you see an assassin wearing one when he kills one the contacts Bond meets. Now I realize he was probably wearing it like a bank robber to conceal his identity but its the type of mask we all got familiar with during the last few years.
