Yesterday my roommate’s friend came to pay my roommate a visit. A recent college graduate, she went on and on to complain how trans people needed validation, how current laws against surgery or hormones for kids were harmful, etc.
When I mentioned the biological definition of a woman — XX chromosomes and the plumbing — she explained how her mother’s hormones changed after pregnancy. (Not realizing that she confused hormones with chromosomes.)
She added that her mother was starting menopause.
I shouted, “If she’s undergoing menopause, she’s a woman!”
Incidentally, this friend also expressed her support for universal health care and hatred of capitalism.
“Where, then, is the money coming from to support universal health care?” I asked.
She answered, “From the military.”
I kid you not. She sounded like something from a GPTChat: plug her in, and she’ll chant all the slogans and “data.” On top of that, she sounded self-assured.
I would laugh at her lack of depth or logic if it weren’t so damned scary. This is the generation leading our country.
The best thing you could’ve done was laugh at her.
