A University of Florida African American Studies course interprets the horror genre based on “racial identity and oppression” while using materials on “whiteness,” “black feminism,” and “queering personhood.”
The course, “Black Horror, White Terror,” explores “the relationship between horror and Black literary modes and traditions focusing on key moments that depict fears of Blackness and/or the terror associated with being Black in America,” according to a spring 2023 syllabus.
Students in the course must read classic works by 19th-century white authors to study how they have “affected racialized discourses.” These include Mary Shelley’s “Frankenstein,” Edgar Allan Poe’s “The Murders in the Rue Morgue,” and others.
Part of this inquiry includes reading an academic article titled, “The Power and Horror of Whiteness,” which argues that Poe was “haunted” by black people based on his fiction writings. The course includes two other resources with “whiteness” in the title.

Library burning will be popular and need many employees.
These “studies” programs need to be targeted for defunding. It’s hideous that tax dollars goes to this crap. Most negroes have zero business going to college. On average their IQ’s are 15+ points below whites. It’s majors like Black Studies that are a result of an intellectually inferior people. They are incompetent.
This is why the bozos want the taxpayers to pay for their “diplomas”.
College is just a scam, if you ask me.
This is a perfect example of “higher learning” currently available at colleges and universities.
I see your point. However, there are blacks I admire, like Ben Carson, James Earl Jones, Morgan Freeman, Larry Elder, Tim Scott, Candace Owens, Silk and the late great Diamond.
Much of college is a scam, yes.
Hard sciences, engineering, agriculture, and business are pretty much the last bastions of worthwhile study, and each has suspect portions.
Unfortunately, that is right.
How long has that been? Time flies, I realize.
Meanwhile, Chinese students are studying calculus and physics.
Wait until they get to HP Lovecraft and his fear of dark-skinned foreigners.

Good for you. It does not mean that there should be Black Studies and low standards for college admissions for any race.
