Possible Reasons for Tucker Carlson's Departure From Fox News Start to Come Into View: Dominion says it’s not about them

In one of the most shocking political developments of the last decade, Tucker Carlson parted ways with Fox News on Monday. The decision was apparently abrupt, as the network was planning to air an interview with Carlson and 2024 presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy on the very next show.

Obviously, that segment has now been canned, and Fox News is reportedly filling the timeslot with an hour of Fox News Tonight using a revolving door of hosts.

Note: Tucker was supposed to do a show tonight. He was set to interview Vivek Ramaswamy. Fox had been promoting it this AM.

So whatever happened, it was abrupt.

My gut is Tucker didn’t want to play ball in this delicate moment for Fox News and it unravelled fast.

— Angelo Carusone (@GoAngelo) April 24, 2023

Speculation as to why Carlson exited the network so quickly has already begun. Many are suggesting that some provision in the Dominion lawsuit demanded it, but that seems unlikely given Carlson was planning to be on air until this happened. Still, the Dominion lawsuit is likely the catalyst in other ways.

As RedState reported, Fox News recently settled a defamation claim brought by the voting system company for $787 million. Just a day prior to that, I had written that big changes were no doubt coming to the network given how bleak things looked.

The long and short of this is that Fox News is in a lot of trouble. The amount of money they could be required to pay out if they lose at trial could cripple the network, and there’s no guarantee that Dominion will give them the out of a lower settlement. Wherever this goes, you can probably bet that big changes are coming to Fox News in the future.

I’ll be honest in saying that Carlson’s ouster didn’t seem probable at the time, though. He is obviously their biggest draw and likely their biggest money maker as far as hosts go. For him to leave has to mean something more happened than just executives being mad about the lawsuit settlement.

It was rumored that Tucker wanted to go on air Monday night and “clear his name” related to the lawsuit, presumably meaning the Dominion lawsuit, and that “corporate nixed the idea.”

My sources are telling me: Tucker was all set to go live tonight. He probably had plans to talk about the lawsuit and clear his name. Producers were prepping guests and slots of Monday's show. Corporate nixed the idea and Tucker up and quit!

According to another report, it was Rupert Murdoch who ultimately decided to end things with Carlson.

🚨 #BREAKING: Fox Corporation Chair Rubert Murdoch made the final decision to part ways with Tucker Carlson — Los Angeles Times

— Nick Sortor (@nicksortor) April 24, 2023

According to the LA Times:

People familiar with the situation who were not authorized to comment publicly said the decision to fire Carlson came straight from Fox Corp. Chairman Rupert Murdoch.

Carlson’s exit is related to the discrimination lawsuit filed by Abby Grossberg, the producer fired by the network last month, the people said. Murdoch is also said to be concerned over Carlson’s coverage of the Jan. 6, 2021, insurrection at the U.S. Capitol, in which the host has promoted the conspiracy theory that it was provoked by government agents.

Carlson has called Ray Epps — a Texas man who participated in the storming of the Capitol but did not enter the building — an FBI plant, without presenting any evidence. Epps was interviewed Sunday on “60 Minutes” and said he has been subjected to death threats as a result of Carlson’s statements about him.

And, Dominion says it’s not about them:

The decision is not related to the $787.5-million settlement Fox News agreed to pay to Dominion Voting Systems last week, according to a representative for Dominion.

However, some of the comments that Carlson had made about management in communications that turned up in the discovery process for the case may have also played a role in Carlson’s demise.

Regardless, I have no doubt Carlson will not only land on his feet but become even more popular. He has the talent and the following to set the podcasting world on fire, and I’d guess that’s the direction he goes. He’ll be able to call his own shots and not be beholden to the demands of a corporate overlord. The future for Fox News isn’t quite as bright. They’ve lost their top audience draw, and no other person exists who can fill that hole. Viewers are going to be angry over this, no matter what the details are.

Daily Mail said that it was about a case brought by a woman former producer who claims that she suffered sexual harassment, abuse and anti-Semitism. Now we hear that there is another male producer who was fired. It was about this case and the January 6 reports. I forget the name of the woman, but she hasn’t settled the case and still plans to have Tucker deposed.

This report from PJ MEDIA :

But according to the Los Angeles Times, individuals familiar with the matter who were not authorized to speak on it suggested that the decision to terminate Carlson’s employment was made directly by Rupert Murdoch, the chairman of Fox Corporation.

According to the report, Murdoch has been concerned about the host’s reporting on the January 6th Capitol riot. Carlson’s coverage of the riot included presenting footage not shown by the January 6 committee. Among other things, the footage shows Capitol Police escorting the so-called “QAnon Shaman” Jacob Chansley around the Capitol and letting him into spaces. This footage prompted Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene and others to call for Chansley to get a retrial. “Jacob Chansley deserves a retrial,” she tweeted. “All he did was nonviolently walk through the Capital [sic] wearing a costume while being escorted by Capital [sic] Police. I’m sick of the lies and the double standard.”

Other footage presented by Carlson showed Capitol Police officer Brian Sicknick walking around after the riot, contradicting liberal claims that he was killed during the violence. Tucker also reported on evidence that suggested that federal agents may have been the ones who incited the violence. According to court documents, the undercover agents seen in body cam footage were not only observing but actively encouraging the protesters with chants like “Go! Go! Go!” “Stop the Steal!” and “Whose House? Our House!”

Tucker’s top producer who was also fired is gay and married to another man.

Sounds fishy to me. Possible democrat plant, in order to get at Tucker. Same happened with Trump in 2016, but Trump still won, but now, the same woman/same case, has been revived by Alvin Bragg.

I am done with Fox unless and until they tell us why. Print and radio have become conservatism’s last stand.

first i’ve even seen a HuffPost POS in years; however, add this treachery to the mix. work for Fox, secretly tape everyone, give it to MSNBC?

23 April: Yahoo: HuffPost: Peter Navarro Slams Sidney Powell’s ‘Far Out’ Election Denial Claims In Leaked Clip
by Ben Blanchet
In audio aired Friday on MSNBC, Navarro is heard complaining to former Fox News producer Abby Grossberg about the harm that Powell did to the Trump team’s wider election fraud claims, which Navarro helped spread...

The audio clip’s release comes after MSNBC this week aired a separate private recording related to Trump allies’ apparent misgivings about the election fraud claims. In that November 2020 recording from Grossberg, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) is heard calling for “actual evidence” to support the Trump team’s allegations, which were made without proof.

The possibility that Grossberg, who made multiple secret recordings with Fox News hosts and guests, could play such clips in court helped spur the network to reach a $787.5 million settlement with Dominion Voting Systems earlier this week in a defamation suit related to election fraud claims, Bloomberg reported...

RE: Daily Mail said that it was about a case brought by a woman former producer who claims that she suffered sexual harassment

If true, then Sigh.... in the end, it’s always this card that desperate leftists will play when they can’t win arguments based on the issues — either racism or sexual harassment.

I remember Bill O’Reiley ( Who Tucker replaced ) also left Fox because of some accusations of sexual harassment.

Daily Mail had the same article in the morning. Then the statement that it was about thevJanuary 6th reporting as well as this court case by this woman assistant producer. I don’t know anything about why they fired the top producer. They had a picture of the woman but I don’t remember her name. They showed a picture of Murdoch too, as well as the statement that it was his explanation.

i’ll have to say, i don’t care WHY FNC and Tucker separated ... he’s gone from FNC now and so are we ... we’ll follow Tucker and hopefully his sponsors (my pillow guy, et. al.) will leave FNC and follow him too ...

it was also clear that FNC was muzzling Tucker BIG TIME, so hopefully where ever he lands, he’ll be 100% unimpeded by higher ups, and then i think the world will be blown away by what he can and will do, and the hard left will switch from cheers to tears when that happens ...

Tucker was stupid for calling so many women the c-word in his emails for all the lawyers to see.

Is that the reason why?

What I see now is a campaign of character assassination against Carlson. It is already taking place with things like:

Hates Trump
Sexual harassment
Antisemitism
Bullying staff

All leaks of today.

A weak effort by Fox to alienate him to someone, anyone in order to preserve viewership.

Dominion denies it for self-protection if this is part of their deal because none of the settlement is to be revealed but the money. That much is already done.

What about Bongino?

These people, and I use the label advisedly, are pure evil. Now that they have done a stupid for political and ideological reasons they are seeing how stupid a business decision it is and trying to cover up.

Same as budweiser, stupid board room decisions that destroy share-holder value should be punishable. Somehow and somewhere there is a fiduciary obligation that is not being met and that used to be and SEC violation punishable by fines or jail time or both. I guess nothing happens because there is no law against being stupid.

Get woke go broke? No, carry on, business as usual. I wish I could live to see some pension fund sue the asses off of a bunch of board room cretins for malfeasance.

If Tucker was against globohomo, why was his male executive producer gay and married to another man? And why did Tucker use the c-word to describe so many women in company emails for all the lawyers to see?
