The Biden administration should be ashamed of themselves.
That briefing from John Kirby on the Afghanistan withdrawal was an insult to the 13 servicemembers who lost their lives, veterans and those in uniform, and to every single American.
On behalf of the administration, he deflected all responsibility, painting Biden as a “helpless” president, while having the audacity to brag about the administration’s “planning.”
He claimed “there’s a lot to be proud of” about the withdrawal, and then insisted “for all this talk of ‘chaos,’ I just didn't see it.”
He insisted this report is not about “accountability” a full 18 months after Biden broke his promise to stay until the evacuation was complete.
Americans saw the images and videos of the chaos with their own eyes. The American people remember, and with the new House Republican majority, accountability is coming.

Uh oh. Be on the lookout for a sternly or strongly worded letter..

“for all this talk of ‘chaos,’ I just didn’t see it.”
True sign of a 100% coward.....never take responsibility for anything you’ve done unless it’s to your advantage.
What a freakin’ worm

The Army drilled into me the definition of leader: one who takes responsibility for everything his unit does, OR FAILS TO DO.
Kirby gets more infuriating with each passing day.
I was involved in six Nuclear Surety Inspections at a nearby Nike Hercules battery in Germany. I led a platoon that would support the battery in case of a terrorist attack.
What I found striking was the attendance of the entire chain of command at the outbriefings, to include the Deputy CG of 32nd AADCOM. In case the battery failed the inspection, the General was there to relieve all COs on the spot: Battery, Battalion, and Group. The sense of "pucker factor" was overpowering.
Apparently, "failure" is encouraged in today's military, unless you're a white male.

Is “gaslighting” a less understandable word for “lying”?

Kirby reminds me of many car salesman I’ve encountered over the years.......they both have about the same integrity........or lack there of.

The Biden Administration isn’t even close to recognizing the damage they and the woke generals did to our nation and military. My SIL, who is in the 82nd and was at the Charlie Foxtrot at the Kabul airport was home on leave last year. I went out with him and several of his buddies drinking. It’s every solidiers right to complain, but the crap I heard was astounding. General Donohue’s “victorious” last man out exit is legend. (There’s a video around somewhere of him coming up the ramp of the last C-135 leaving Afghanistan and acting like a like he was a conquering hero.) They hate his guts. Zero respect. Now few are re-enlisting and with recruiting at all time lows most battalions in the 82nd are just over 80% strength. Think about going into battle already being two in ten down.
Biden was able to destroy our military in a few short months.

Biden was able to destroy our military in a few short months.Which tells me he didn't dream up this CF. Question is "Who did?" Who would know how to denigrate the US military so thoroughly with one fell swoop? Hmmm...
