Rep. Matt Gaetz on Wednesday called on Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis to resist any attempt to haul former President Donald Trump back to New York to face criminal charges.
In an interview with News Nation, the Fort Walton Beach Republican said Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s efforts to indict Trump are politically motivated and will likely make Trump stronger in the long run.

From what I’ve been reading today, Trump himself wants a spectacle of him being handcuffed an led into the jail, plus his secret service detail will be turning him over to the authorities.

Is a sworn statement by New York official required for extradition?
The whole thing is a travesty from start to finish.
But it is a pretty fundamental part of our federal system that a person accused of a crime in one state cannot hide out and seek sanctuary in a different state. As bogus as this whole thing is, I don’t think it works well if Florida “shelters” Trump.
Refuse to extradite him to NY.

If Trump’s security detail turns him over to “authorities” I’d be concerned for his safety. Nothing is beyond this band of thugs.
I remember a time when conservatives believed in getting stuff done, and didn’t like social media pajama boys. Now, a sizeable amount of “conservatives” don’t care about accomplishing anything, and only care about making a social media scene.

i hope Trump stays put in FL for this. if it comes to it, he should resist extradition with everything he’s got. he should claim political sanctuary in FL.
when/if it becomes necessary, i believe Gov. DeSantis will do the right thing(s) under FL law for him.
I remember a time when you knew your Rep and Senator and if you knew about any back benchers it was because they got caught with the proverbial ‘dead girl, live boy’. Now with 24 hour news and social media we get bombarded with the MTGs, AOCs, and such of the world. If it brays the loudest it generates eyeballs, which is the bottom line nowadays.

Unlike everyone else in the world. Trump has presidential protection. His bodyguards would literally follow him into prison. And his bodyguards are Treasury agents. So this arrest stuff is quite an issue.
