"I have no interest in getting involved in some type of manufactured circus by some Soros DA," DeSantis said.
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has finally weighed in on the looming indictment and potential arrest of former President Donald Trump.

DeSantis' remarks are quite interesting and worth reading in full.
"So I've seen rumors swirl," DeSantis said. "I have not seen any facts yet, and so I don't know what's gonna happen. But I do know this, the Manhattan District Attorney is a Soros-funded prosecutor. And so he, like other Soros-funded prosecutors, they weaponize their office to impose a political agenda on society at the expense of the rule of law and public safety."
"He has downgraded over 50% of the felonies to misdemeanors," DeSantis continued. "He says he doesn't want to even have jail time for the vast, vast majority of crimes. And what we've seen in Manhattan is we've seen the crime rate go up and we've seen citizens become less safe."
"And so you're talking about this situation with, and look, I don't know what goes into paying hush money to a porn star to secure silence over some type of alleged affair," he added. "I just, I can't speak to that, but what I can speak to is that if you have a prosecutor who is ignoring crimes happening every single day in his jurisdiction, and he chooses to go back many, many years ago to try to use something about porn star 'hush money' payments, you know, that's an example of pursuing a political agenda and weaponizing the office.'
"And I think that that's fundamentally wrong," he remarked. "I also think it's important to point out when you're talking about these Soros-funded prosecutors, yes, they may do a high profile politicized prosecution and that's bad. But the real victims are ordinary New Yorkers, ordinary Americans, and all these different jurisdictions that they get victimized every day because of the reckless political agenda that these Soros DAs bring to their job. They ignore crime and they empower criminals. And that hurts people, hurts a lot of people every single day."
"The Soros district attorneys are a menace to society, and I'm just glad that I'm the only governor in the country that's actually removed one from office during my tenure," he noted.
DeSantis also said that his office won't be involved in a "manufactured crisis" by the Soros DA.
"We won’t be involved in this," he added. "I have no interest in getting involved in some type of manufactured circus by some Soros DA... He’s trying to do a political spectacle. He’s trying to virtue signal for his base. I’ve got real issues I got to deal with here in FL."
Trump supporters have been roasting DeSantis online about remaining silent over the potential arrest of former President Donald Trump. It will be worth watching if they believe that DeSantis spoke out strongly enough against the political prosecution over if they think he took a veiled shot at the former president.
That idiotic thinking can be said for anything in life and there are consequences for saying/doing and not saying or doing things in life. That is what defines character. It proves to me RDS is lacking in that department.
No, I can’t, so please tell us since you are now his brain.
Hearing problems? Yes, he did in he most back-handed, back-stabbing, snarky, politically charged way.
Agree.
Even Pontious Pence was vocally against this.
“What I dont respect…is people who get on this forum and feel the need to attribute wicked motives to people who disagree with them... They sound like raving maniacs, and my initial point is that they can’t hear how loopy they sound because of the echo chamber here.”
Well said. “Biden supporter”, “Dem troll”, ad nauseam.
That’s a lie and you know it about his surrogates. They were very vocal. I can tell you that it is highly doubtful given the circumstances at the time and now, that Trump’s lawyers woudl allow him to say anything and the J6 defendants probably dint want his overt help as it may have hindered their cases.
“Even Pontious Pence was vocally against this.”
Pence should definitely be DeSantis’ role model.
You people are so tiresome. You really are.
Oh, sure. Great idea. I hope that you are joking.
Do you think PDJT’s lawyers told him to go out there and make statements about the events of J6, knowing that litigation was probable?
“Good point, but does that extend to DeSantis having to release a public statements on these - and every future instance - of politically motivated abuses of power? And every other abuse of the “rule of law” (of which there are many, pretty much daily)?”
No, not every abuse of power or abuse of the rule of law. But the politically motivated indictment of a former president and current presidential candidate on false charges, designed to prevent him from ascending to the presidency? Yes, he does need to respond - that is, if he intends to run for president himself.
It's the new normal. It's been going on with COVID-19, then the 2020 Presidential Election and now the 2024 Presidential Election. I'm not optimistic that not will get any better.
“I found Governor DeSantis’ statement delightful today.”
In a passive-aggressive weenie way.
As an attorney, he could’ve done better.
I may have misunderstood what you wrote. Were you saying that RDS should speak out like Pence? If so, my apologies that I misinterpreted your comments.
Unfortunately I am as pessimistic as you. Among many prime offenders on ginning up this sorry state I point to Sydney Powell and Rudy Guiliani. The latter said, on 12/20/20 “It’s all going to come out a once, right after Christmas” the two of them were long on promises and short on delivering the goods. A lot of the nonsense that has pushed people right over the edge: insurrection Act, magic executive orders, powers of Mike Pence, German server farms, Quo Warranto writs, etc., wasnt helped by the atmosphere fostered those jokers one little bit

Well, he did respond...and given DJT’s repeated insults, DeSantis’ tepid statement is not particularly surprising - and I wouldn’t have expected any more (or maybe less) from DJT if the roles were reversed.
