In the coming world of blackouts, and electric supply rationing, why does an EV make sense?

It sounds like someone would basically be tethered to their home town so to speak. You have proclaimed the unspeakable truth ... for that you must be disappeared. The black vans will be coming for you shortly.
Resistance is futile. You will be assimilated.

Where do they get the ingredients for these magic batteries? At what human cost and environmental damage? All for an unsustainable chain of needed rare metals. This age is one of total madness. Do they use EV trains, ships, trucks, digging equipent to harvest the Earth and transport? The answer is no, there is not enough power in solar or wind to even make the copper wiring at an industrial scale....Madness.

I sincerely hope that the battery fire does not strike while it’s in your garage and maybe kill you and your family.

Since it works for you, good for you! But they’re trying to force it upon people for whom it would NOT work, or who simply prefer something else.

Everybody I know, everybody on this website and anyone else can afford a gas driven vehicle. Driving an EV in order to save monies is a false claim, it's nothing but virtue signaling. If you can afford an EV today, you certainly can afford whatever the cost of gasoline is today and in the future.
Maintenance costs? Why are those never mentioned in the EV discussions?
I'd sooner purchase a ten year old gas driven vehicle over a ten year old EV any day, any time.....

Comes down to what you pay for electricity ... and gasoline. A highly-efficient small car WILL have lower *operational* costs per mile than the Audi EV SUV, but the Nissan LEAF will beat that small ICE car. You get the idea.
True. Texas is mostly on the lower end of both of those costs, so it should be a pretty average comparison.
And yes, of course, but my comparison was the Pilot (Honda), which is pretty close to the Audi SUV, if not bigger.
