That will never happen.
We ought to compare how the average American student was doing in academic proficiency Before we had an operating Department of Education ( circa 1980 ).
I suspect our kids did much better before the DOE was established and progressively got worse ever since.
it wouldn’t change a thing. the money still has to be distributed to the same parties.
A leader uses influence to get things done.
Didn’t Eisenhower start this? Republicans are usually the ones to begin big government agencies. Bush homeland security, ford EPA, Eisenhower education and I’m sure many more.
The abolition of permissive parenting and school discipline would do even more good.
Remember to say how much you love St. Carter of the Commies for the Department of Education and shutting down Verona.
Yes this is a spin off from the Department of Health Education and Welfare. They are now each their own entity. It’s about funds...not education per se.
Minneapolis, Minnesota is another with failing scores.
DOE is the biggest failure in the history of failures.
Go for it Mr President !!!
In 1979 when Congress was debating the bill to create the Department, on Congressman properly raised the concern that the department should have a different name to avoid confusion of the acronym for the Department of Energy. Department of Public Education and Youth recognizing the intent to sway the young people was the first attempt that was voted down. Then more simply the Department of Public Education was tried, and failed. Almost 50 years later we can confirm the proposals were on the mark - the Department of Education as actually DOPEY and has only produced DOPE children.
“Sir” (he likes telling stories about people calling him sir)
“Sir” after you disband the DOE, would you kindly swing your axe and knock off the EPA, BATF, NEA, NPR, & PBS?
We’re actually pretty broke, and could save a lot of money in these areas. Thank you Sir!
Alas, we have heard that promise before and nothing came of it. it was like repealing Obamacare.
Both DOEs.
Get a couple of trouble maker kids in a class and the rest cannot learn even if they want to. The real problem is no discipline allowed
I also have another thought. I think if there were more male teachers, things might be better. Only because I've had both...and there seemed to be more respect for male teachers.
One of the problems is....female teachers...most are pretty cocky...and think they’re right...no matter what. And this tenure...I had someone go to see a teacher about their child...the first thing the teacher said...”Before you say anything, let me tell you...I have tenure”. My friends were livid.
