In his later years, Strom Thurmond was a walking corpse while a Senator. I would feel embarrassed, but would still support a Senator or Congressman who was not all there, if he voted correctly. President, though, is much different of course.

Good folks from Pa... I'm from Pittsburgh. Pittsburghers still believe
"Republicans is fer da rich peoples,
Democrats is fer da workin' man"
So wrong, Steel is gone, Pittsburgh is now so much more white collar, but "I'm a democrat, I will always be a democrat," is the governing logic behind Pittsburgh voters.
We haven't had a Republican mayor or Representative in at least 80 years, maybe more.
