we need to shorten our list of "wants" to "needs" and get by like every generation before us facing hard times....

garden, preserve, freeze, buy loss leaders in bulk when on sale....

"Dead birds don’t lay eggs"

Some do, if you squeeze them just right.

The egg prices are due to bird flu.

Used my reward points to buy 18 eggs for $1.50. Saved $5.25

IOW, without the sale, about 37 cents /egg.

Still a good food bargain (nutrition wise), but IIRC used to be closer to a dime apiece.

And whatever happened to the “cents” key - used to have one above the number 6 on the old IBM selectric.

If they’re edging up I don’t see it.

Paying 3.88 for regular in Santa Clara, CA. Was 4.80ish this time last year IRCC and 6 bucks in September.

Eggs are 7 bucks a dozen for the “AA Organic” However.

I’m not quite to the strange casserole du jour stage of the late 70’s, but if anyone is interested in a Carter era recipe, I found it in The Tightwad Gazette!

Universal Casserole

1 cup main ingredient (meat, generally)
1 cup second ingredient (veggie, mushroom, eggs, etc)
1-2 cups starchy ingredient
1 1/2 cup binder (can of Campbells cream of something or another, gravy, etc)
1/4 cup goodie (olives, pimiento, etc)
Seasoning
Topping (cheese, crushed potato chips, etc)

Thoroughly mix and if dry add 1/2 cup milk or stock. Place in a buttered pan, top, and bake at 350 degrees for 30-45 minutes.

It is your imagination. Eggs have always been $5/dozen for large eggs and $7/doz for extra large. In fact these prices are down under Biden, your wages are up, we have full employment, and your 401K like the S&P has been growing by leaps and bounds in the best economy ever. So stop trying to demoralize people you Ultra MAGA racist wrecker. We have ways of dealing with people like you, you insurrectionist. And stop your wife from spreading misinformation about the God damn baby formula nonsense. If she were a real woman like Pete Buttigieg she would be able to breast feed.

NOT true

they stopped supplying toilet paper to the distribution centers

according to EVERY store employee I asked, very few people bought up large supplies until after the word went out on social media that there was a big run on TP

there were warehouses stuffed with TP but it wasn't being shipped. It ony takes a few days for store shelves to run out of supplies.

This "Tin Foil hat" label works for every thing that we refuse to believe. It makes it easier to get away with outrageous things like election tampering . If you believe anything outside the consensus narrative then it is "crazy" and you wear a "tin foil hat"
