Look, I don’t know what Donald Trump is trying to accomplish with his “Trump Digital Trading Cards,” but I do know P.T. Barnum ain’t got nothin’ on The Donald. I mean we’re talking MyPillow dude Mike Lindell-quality stuff, here.
Here’s something else I know: Whatever Trump was thinking was wrong. Way wrong.
As my colleague Bonchie reported earlier, Trump on Wednesday teased a coming “major announcement” on Thursday morning. His major announcement, he said, would come because “America needs a superhero.” On Thursday, that announcement came: Trump Digital Trading Cards. No, really.
Ah, but hold on here a minute, some of you ask, while others laugh. Given Trump’s “genius,” he’s always (fill in a number) of steps ahead of everyone else. So, of course, the trading card thingy is something brilliant that mere mortals are incapable of grasping. One avid Trump supporter on my Facebook page called Trump’s “major announcement a “feint” — leading up to comment about his 2024 platform.
Other loyalists, perhaps like the rest of us with no explanation, assumed Trump’s trading card shtick was only a “joke” — given that Trump can never be wrong. Three words: not a joke. Check out his announcement video at CollectTrumpCards.com and see for yourself.
In an infomercial rivaling Mike Lindell’s “best” MyPillow product ads, Trump boasts:
Hello everybody, this is Donald Trump. Hopefully your favorite president of all. Better than Lincoln, better than Washington, with an important announcement to make. I’m doing my first official Donald J. Trump NFT Collection right here and right now. They’re called “Trump Digital Trading Cards,” These cards feature some of the really incredible artwork pertaining to my life and my career, and it’s been very exciting.
Notice how Trump must be “better than” Abraham Lincoln and George Washington. It’s honestly kind of sad, in a way. That amount of insecurity, I mean. And how does a serious person even respond to this? No, it wasn’t a “feint.” No, it wasn’t a “joke.” The question is, what the hell was it?
Trump continued to boast about himself and hype the ever-loving crap out of his digital trading card series, but before we go any further, a quick word about NTFs — non-fungible tokens.
I won’t get deep into the weeds about NTFs, but they’re even more precarious than cryptocurrencies. Comprised of digital identifiers that can’t be copied, substituted, or subdivided and recorded in a blockchain, they are worth ONLY what those who are brave silly enough to buy them think they’re worth. You don’t have to be a former 30-year registered investment advisor — which I am — but anyone with a modicum of knowledge about how the crypto nightmare turned out for buyers who “invested” serious money in the pretend assets knows what I’m talking about.
Anyway, again, why?
Does Trump know he’s going to lose but wants to go out with a bang? Is the whole thing a thinly veiled fundraising scheme? Does Trump even really want to be president, again? Or is he incapable of seeing how ridiculous this thing is, and honestly believes everything he says in the video I linked to, above? Again, I don’t know.
But here’s something I strongly believe: Trump is counting on his legions of loyalists to plop down a hundred bucks a pop on this worthless nonsense, and I’m gonna go ahead and bet he won’t be wrong.
Sorry, Trump loyalists, but this is as pathetic as it is hilarious.
What if each card cotains a message. Trump is the Master of Troll.
The true Trump announcement was actually the following part 1 of his video:

In the General/Chat forum, on a thread titled Q ~ Trust Trump's Plan ~ 12/13/2022 Vol.441, Q Day 1872, COUNTrecount wrote: Transcript of Trump’s December 15 Announcement about Censorship, and Free Speech
If we don’t have free speech, we don’t have a free country. It’s as simple as that. If this most fundamental right is allowed to perish, the rest of our rights and liberties will topple, like dominoes.
That’s why today I’m announcing my plan to shatter the leftwing censorship regime, and to reclaim the right to free speech for all Americans. And reclaim is a very important word in this case, because they’ve taken it away.
In recent weeks, bombshell reports have confirmed a sinister group of deep state bureaucrats, Silicon Valley tyrants, left wing activists, and depraved corporate news media, have been conspiring to manipulate and silence the American people. They have collaborated to suppress vital information on everything from elections to public health. The censorship cartel must be dismantled and destroyed, and it must happen immediately.
Here is my plan.
First, within hours of my inauguration, I will sign an executive order, banning any federal department or agency from colluding with any organization, business, or person to censor, limit, categorize or impede the lawful speech of American citizens. I will then ban federal money from being used to label domestic speech to be labeled as mis or disinformation. And I will begin the process of identifying and firing every federal bureaucrat who has engaged in domestic censorship, directly or indirectly, whether they are the Department of Homeland Security, the Department of Health and Human Services, the FBI, the DOJ, no matter who they are.
Second, I will order the DOJ to investigate all parties involved in the new online censorship regime, which is absolutely destructive and terrible, and to aggressively prosecute any and all crimes identified. These crimes include possible violations of federal civil rights law, camp finance laws, federal election laws, securities laws, anti-trust laws, the Hatch Act, and a host of other potential criminal, civil, regulatory and Constitutional offenses.
To assist in these efforts, I am urging House Republicans to immediately send preservation letters. We have to do this right now. To the Biden administration, the Biden campaign, and every Silicon Valley tech giant, ordering them not to destroy evidence of censorship.
Third, upon my inauguration as president, I will ask Congress to send a bill to my desk revising Section 230. To get big online platforms out of censorship business. From now on, digital platforms should only qualify for immunity protection under Section 230 if they meet high standards of neutrality, transparency, fairness, and non-discrimination. We should require these platforms to increase their efforts to take down unlawful content such as child exploitation, and promoting terrorism while dramatically curtailing their power to arbitrarily restrict lawful speech.
Fourth, we need to break up the entire toxic censorship industry that has arisen under the false guise of tackling so called mis and disinformation. The federal government should immediately stop funding all nonprofits and academic programs that support this authoritarian project.
If any US university is discovered to have engaged in censorship activities, or election interference in the past, such as flagging social media content for removal, or blacklisting, those universities should lose federal research dollars, and federal student loan support for a period of five years, and maybe more.
We should also enact new laws laying out clear criminal penalties for federal bureaucrats who partner with private entities to do an end run around the Constitution, and deprive Americans of their First, Fourth, and Fifth Amendment rights. In other words, deprive them of their vote. And once you lose your elections, and once you lose your borders like we have, you no longer have a country.
Furthermore, to confront the problems of major platforms being infiltrated by legions of former deep-staters and intelligence officials, there should be a seven year cooling-off period before any employee of the FBI, CIA, NSA, DNI, DHS, or DOD is allowed to take a job at a company possessing vast quantities of US user data.
Fifth, the time has finally come for Congress to pass a digital bill of rights. This should include a right to digital due process. In other words, government offs should need a court order to take down online content; not send information requests such as the FBI was sending to twitter.
Furthermore, when users of big online platforms have their content or accounts removed, throttled, shadow-banned, or otherwise restricted, no matter what name they use, they should have the right to be informed that it’s happening; the right to a specific explanation of the reason why, and the right to a timely appeal. In addition, all users over the age of 18 should have the right to opt out of content moderation and curation entirely, and receive an unmanipulated stream of information, if they so choose.
The fight for free speech is a matter of victory or death for American, and for the survival of western civilization itself. When I am president, this whole rotten system of censorship and information control will be ripped out of the system at large. There won’t be anything left.
By restoring free speech, we will begin to reclaim our democracy and save our nation. Thank you, and God bless America.
Others are pointing out it's possible the trading cards are from a fake account that timed the posting of the cards to 'cash in' on Trump's 'big announcement' for marketing purposes:

@lavern_spicerI looked up the WHOIS for the domain. It has to be a joke. All Trump domains are registered through one company, through the year 2030. This new domain is through an entirely different registrar and is only for 1 year. Somebody is pulling a fast one.
“So you can buy them with your????....
Musk's celebrity powered sales of the $100-per-bottle (£90, AU$160) perfume. Last week, he said buyers had already purchased 10,000 bottles of Burnt Hair. "Can't wait for media stories tomorrow about $1M of Burnt Hair sold," he tweeted. We now have to update that sales number. https://www.cnet.com/culture/internet/elon-musk-sells-out-burnt-hair-perfume/
Probably in the same vein as that.
Would be the domain of the website selling the original Trump superhero cards.
Could be legit though but a 3rd party because I wouldn’t think anyone wants to sell Trump’s image on anything without his permission.
So if it’s a legit playing card thing, then I agree with those who are saying that Trump trolled the left into putting their eyes on, getting them to focus on the ‘scandal’ of the cards and then lobbing the speech at them so they were essentially a ‘socially’ captive audience.
I dunno. The domain name is atypical for Trump websites though....
If you read the whole thing you will find that if you are lucky and the value goes up and you decide to sell yours there is a 10% fee. So the initial $99 is not all it could wind up costing. I think they hope it will be an ongoing revenue stream. It all sounds really bogus to me and I am disappointed that Trump is involved in it.
Are they as pathetic as Hunter Biden's paintings?
Much ado about nothing IMHO.
Trump is the troll king. He even got me. I was thinking, dang, this really jumps the shark.
Then the real announcement about the 1A protections...
I’m a big Trump supporter, but this is stupid stuff....
“He’s right, this has P.T. Barnum all over it. Trump is turning this into a clown show and it’s hard to watch”.
I can’t argue with that.
The clown show is the GOPe.
He did make a major announcement today. It just wasn’t about the cards.
“What if each card cotains a message. Trump is the Master of Troll”.
With all due respect that is disgusting and sounds like Q-anon BS.
Do people still use the expression;
“Jumped the shark”?
That’s what this sounds like.
Maybe he needs to spend a little more time with his family.
I don’t think Trump has gotten over what was very likely massive vote fraud. He probably never will. A crime of historic proportions was committed. And to know that no one will even be getting punished for it only worsens the agony. My sense of timing and significance would be screwed up too.
Trump has “jumped the shark”
What the hell was he thinking?
“ I think the problem is that Trump mentioned that there was going to be a major announcement. Given the desperate situation we find our country in, I think a lot of us were counting on this major announcement to be something helpful.
Instead it was digital trading cards. ”
Yep.
And people are trying make excuses.
But his “announcement “ was clearly themed with these childish cards.
Enough of the drama .
Shark jumping???
