Republican's need to shut up about the decisive social issues and focus on what they do best! The economic policy!

My CD in NYS flipped red. The Republican won by 8 or 9 points.

Part of the district is in NYC.

The guy has called abortion a barbaric practice. He refuses to walk that comment back.

The guy was also at the Jan. 6th protest and refuses to apologize for being there.

Again this is a blue district that flipped red, he won by 8 or 9 points and this is an inner suburban district that also covers a part of NYC.

That’s a good post. I would also highlight something that makes the same point from a different perspective. I can’t think of a more effective way to bring about a complete social and economic collapse in the U.S. today than to give people “social freedoms” while at the same time forcing employers and taxpayers to cover their health care costs. That combination is a recipe for disaster.

Actually, it might turn out to be a red wave in the end, but it’s a slow one. We’ll do well in the end, but media is letting it out in dribs and drabs to steal the ability to celebrate. GOP wins have to be played down. Just MHO.

I was happy to see three NY Districts flip from RAT to GOP today. That’s huge.

if the younger generations are going more libertarian than they should vote against Dems. But I agree the Reps haven’t done as good a job as they should have emphasizing the Dems want to take away personal liberties even more than the GOP.

1) Then why the heck are young people voting for democrats? Democrats are the consummate control freaks.

2) I heard that when I was young, back in the mid 70’s. That’s nothing new, and it’s still the same old lie.

Case in point - AIDs research devoured billions in research money that could’ve been used on cancer, stroke, heart disease research costing countless non-gay lives.

The price society paid for the lifestyle freedoms gays currently enjoy.

Someone always pays.

The huge majority of US voters want abortion legal up to 8 or 13 weeks and would be content with a later ban.

If you are prepared to die on the hill of a ban, I respect you - but you shouldn’t complain about losing.

SPOT ON. God has a way of spiting the wicked. However, collateral damage can occur and we all need to be good with God when he passes judgement.

Except Republicans weren’t talking about those issues. They were talking about inflation. It didn’t do them any good.

Yes, there was talk about transsexuals, but that wasn’t about not living as you like. It was about not forcing the rest of society to adapt to your lifestyle.

Your point #2 was right, though. Even though Republicans weren’t talking about abortion or homosexuality or drugs, brainwashed Democrats assumed they were.

I’m pretty much done with caring about winning or losing anymore. The system is rigged. I live in Texas that will remain red for a while. If we can’t pick up Newt Gingrich “Contract with America” numbers with this idiot in office and the way they are tanking the country, then what’s the point. Personally, I favor Texit. I don’t want to live in the same country as these perverts.

Why do you think Walker is going to win?
He’s trailing going into a runoff. The Dems are going to pour all sorts of resources into Warnock.
Just wondering...

First....

Do drugs, not my right to tell you no.

As long as you're an adult, fine. But no government-sponsored rehab, healthcare, housing, or any freebies if you ruin your life with drugs. Die in the gutter if you want, but don't ask us to pick up the rehab tab because you decided drug use was a good idea. Put yourself in the gutter, lift yourself out without any taxpayer help.

Second....be gay if you want, but that doesn't give you the right to teach your views of sexuality in school, nor does it give you the right to force the rest of us to recognize that your lifestyle choices are "normal". You are free to live as you wish, and we are free to condemn it morally if we choose. And you remain free to do the same to us.

Why no red wave? Trump. Sticking his ego into everything.

I voted for him twice but I have been getting angrier and angrier about his self-obsessed criticism of people who are actually doing things (such as DeSantis and other good Governors).

“Social issues” are not unimportant.

They are one of the reasons DeSantis is so great. He has protected parents of public school kids from having to submit their kids to indoctrination by tranny weirdos, he has protected us as much as possible from “mandatory” vaccination requirements, he has fought with the Dem and RINO cities to get kids back to in-person schooling, no masking...and that’s what matters.

Trump was never particularly conservative, but he was somebody who grew up very well off but in a family that was not “in with the in crowd,” as they used to say. His father was a successful real estate guy in Queens...which to most New Yorkers is the armpit of the Boroughs.

So his brilliant stroke, which I don’t think was self serving but came from his own experience, was to recognize the importance of the hoi polloi, people like us who weren’t “in” with any crowd. He was great at that.

Unfortunately, he wasn’t that good at governance because he (or his kids, who appear to have been his main advisors) didn’t really know much about it.

We need to have a combination of social issues and economy, because economy and society are two faces of the same coin.

People have no ambition if their society stinks...24/7 abortions and pressure on small children to suddenly declare they’re members of the opposite sex, crime so bad you can’t go out on the street, much less get on public transportation...well, you get the idea.

We need to keep on preaching the social issues. I assume you’re pro-abortion and hate the Supreme Court and believe it’s Republican and partisan.

But it’s neither, and all the court said was that the issue should be left to the states so that proponents or opponents of abortion could convince their neighbors one way or another. The Court didn’t give a moral judgment on it but simply said it wasn’t constitutionally mandated or protected, and left it up to local communities.

Economy doesn’t work without a basic understanding of society and humanity. And most Republicans, historically, were opposed to abortion and the other bizarre things we now accept as normal.

Social liberalism is what broke America, and broke the cities first.

Social liberals vote for liberalism and big government.
