About 20 years or so ago, my church was sponsoring a family from Russia. The husband and wife had a 20 year age difference as he couldn't afford to marry until later in life. I don't remember how many kids they had, maybe 2?, or boys or girls as they weren't allowed to speak. They ALL spoke English.
The church found them a house and we were asked to donate household items. I gave a 12 piece service of stoneware dishes, complete with bowls, cups and saucers. They were insulted because it wasn't china. These people were awful snobs and very unfriendly. I doubt they accepted or ever used the new set of stoneware.
The video made me laugh and think of them.
