If colleges and universities want to see an improvement in black student performance, they need to address the issue with those who bear sole responsibility...black students.
That said, those students (of any race) who are motivated can be helped by offering classes that teach kids how to study (many people just don't know how) and by offering tutors and courses that teach fundamentals that weren't taught by high schools and elementary schools.
In the end though, academic achievement, like any other achievement, is only worth what one pays for it...and the price is just good old hard work.
That's because they, themselves, are inexperienced in the real world and are the lowest forms of bigots. Go watch a few seasons of BAR RESCUE and see how 95% of the feral black (AND white) bar employees respond well to a male Alpha authority (Jon Taffer) who is expert at calling out their bullsh**, while also educating them in business and discipline. Of course, many of them relapse after he leaves, but the transformations during the show recording week are often sobering.

Yes, the bell curve. But. Yes, but.
There is large overlap when you superimpose those bell curves onto one graph. Yes, at the far right end, there will be more whites than blacks percentage twice than near the middle.
The average IQ of East Asians (Chinese, Japanese, etc.) is higher than whites, so they will predominate at the far right end of the curve, too. Still lots of overlap, though.
If you calculated bell curves for whites and blacks on athletic ability, you’d probably find the same, except the blacks would predominate at the far right tail end.
Some black people have higher IQs than some white people. Some white people don’t have an IQ in the range needed to succeed in some fields; same for blacks. While fewer black people are to be found on the extreme high end, there are some to found, such as Dr. Ben Carson and Thomas Sowell. Just as there are are some gifted and talented white athletes to be found on the extreme high end of athletic ability where blacks predominate.
The point is this. There are plenty of black people in this country who have sufficient IQ to succeed at achieving a high school or college diploma. The percentage might be slightly less, but except at the extreme tail ends of the curve, not all that big a deal. Same deal for whites and athletics. Lots of whites have sufficient ability to perform well enough. It’s at the extreme tail ends of the curve the disparity becomes all too obvious.
So what’s the problem? My guess is cultural. Lots of black children have the idea that studying hard and trying to do well in school is “trying to act white” and a betrayal of their people. Libs both black and white tell them they are disadvantaged and victims of racism and therefore cannot succeed. So why should these kids even try? These beliefs also give the kids an excuse to goof off rather than exercise discipline, and we all know kids love an excuse to goof off and that discipline isn’t exactly fun. Also, a higher percentage of black children lack fathers in their homes, and we all know Dads are really good at instilling discipline in their kids, especially their sons.
Dr. Ben Carson and Thomas Sowell were encouraged to work hard, to learn to discipline themselves and to develop their God-given abilities and talents to their full potential. How many black children were not?
It really is true the blacks must solve this for themselves. Stop listening to the hucksters who tell them they are destined for failure, whether black or white — these people have their own agendas, not the best interests of black children at heart. Take stock of themselves, see where they’ve gone wrong.
At the same time, our larger society, both black and white, need to accept reality. Life is not fair in the sense the libs insist it be and even *is*. It’s not fair that that a random white baby has a statistically lower chance of becoming a professional football player than a black baby. It’s not fair that a random black baby has a statistically lower chance of becoming a groundbreaking brilliant scientist than a white or East Asian baby. But it is what it is.
Sorry libs, but you are living in lalaland. Equity is an unrealistic goal. Reality is not as you wish it to be. We’re not all born with equal abilities and talents and innate intelligence.
On the other hand, the good news is that most of us, no matter our race, are born with sufficient abilities and innate intelligence to get along reasonably well in life (see bell curves). It’s up to us to develop our potential through hard work and discipline.
We need a return to sanity, which is best defined (IMHO) as “ongoing dedication to reality, no matter what the cost”. The libs who insist that reality is as they wish it to be are nuts, sorry. There is a growing “democratic” impulse to “be like Stalks” among whites as well. Whether black or white, such an impulse bodes no good for us all.
IQ may not be a genetic thing. In American universities, Orientals and Indians achieve higher grades and reach PhD level more often than whites, as a percentage of population in America. It has to do with family backgrounds. Oreiental and Indian parents push their kids harder to achieve higher goals.
I agree but for a somewhat different set of reasons. Prior to the negro establishment being pretty much completely co-opted by the religion of politics pushed by liberals the emphasis within the negro community was on ‘upward striving’, be clean, neat, orderly and mannerly, work hard, get all the education (then called learning) you can, get married, have a family, be a good neighbor and good parent, child, citizen, etc. This along with the gospel of the straight and narrow , was preached every Sunday in most churches. The Civil Rights Struggle changed the orientation to mobilization for the (very peaceful) struggle. The liberals began to seriously push the religion of politics onto the negro community at this time. The doctrines of collective entitlement, victimology, community salvation through electing democrats and then black democrats was heavily promoted. Now decades later after city after city has had a procession of black mayors, black police chiefs, black superintendents of education, virtually all black slates of aldermen, black school principles, etc., the millennium hasn’t arrived and in spite of real and obvious material improvement in the lives of most negroes the state of their community is Hobbesian. Why? Because white liberals and their posionious secular humanist-cultural marxist ideology have stolen the souls of black folks and made them hard hearted, pettily calculating,and cruel. The family, that was along with the church, the two things poor blacks could hold on to in times of want, hardship and violence have been; in the case of the family destroyed, in the case of the church turned into an agit prop agency for ethnic resentment and entitlement and always politics. Liberal politicized secular humanism has ruined the black community and makes real cultural and academic progress as problematic as everything else for these people. Black people really do have to work twice as hard, in my opinion, to live the American Dream, but that’s a good thing — exceptionalism is always a good thing — because most who succeed (outside of crappers and thuggies) have earned it, they know they’ve earned it, and that makes for good Americans.
