California has passed a new regulation that will ban the sale of gas-powered vehicles; the new emissions rule, which was permitted by the Biden administration, will have wide-ranging effects beyond California and could accelerate the nationwide transition to electric cars.
California’s Air Resources Board (CARB) finalized a rule Thursday that will outlaw the sale of gas-fueled cars by 2035. The law may push an increasing number of states to adopt similar rules and force Americans to exclusively buy electric vehicles (EVs) as numerous Democrat-run states such as New York, Massachusetts and Maryland routinely adopt California’s “clean car” standards, according to data from the Maryland Department of the Environment.

I think it’s already been shown & pretty well proven that EVs are not going to prove out satisfactory unless some vastly new technology makes itself apparent and we’re not there yet. Don’t expect me to stop & help some hapless EV owner stuck by the side of the road as it’s likely there would be nothing I could do anyway except to remind him of the error of his thinking & offer him a ride.
I expect you will actually have less.
Like kerosene used to power millions of homes’ kitchens in the past, and is now sold in paint sections at Gucci prices, gasoline and other petroleum derivatives will disappear once the need to produce it in volume and distribute it is gone.
CA has effectively been writing US law since the 70’s.
Hollywood demands, Sacramento passes, CA then pushes it national.
Never has the USA ever told CA what it needs to change.
Drugs, immigration, homeless, elitism all began in CA.
Now its nationwide.
SEIU, BLM, Antifa, ELF, SJW all began in CA.
Now they are nationwide.
The ugly Americans raise their heads again. Let the rest of the world deal with the environmental mess from the battery production so Americans can feel smug.
A quick Google search…. Electric vehicle registration by state.
Very interesting. 👍
I was stuck in traffic a couple of weeks ago. Barely moving. All the cars had their windows up, running the AC. Except the two Teslas I saw.
Does California support a woman’s right to choose what kind of vehicle she drives?
Trick question! They don’t know what a woman is.
Other states can pass laws to make it illegal to ban the sale of gas-powered vehicles.
Notice this is from a unelected board. Hard to believe there seems to be no political push back. The car manufacturers don’t care because the EVs require less personal to assemble and given there will be no competition from other drive sources higher prices. By 2050 the US will look like Havana with the old cars on the road.
Since this article was published, Oregon and Washington state have both banned the sale of gasoline powered vehicles after 2035.
I think ME will come around enpventually. I heard they want their old mayor back what’s-his-name? I hope that is the case- woild hate to see Maine go libtard totally.
Excellent time to divide the country. The climate change true believers will be crushed economically by the industrious, sane, and non deluded normals.
We get all the hydrocarbons and they get all the misery.
Yeah, here are the states that follow CA fairly quickly:

Hopefully it won’t spread nationwide as fast as catalytic converters did.

As in virtually all states, it’s the cities.
I know some people make it a blanket policy of condemning all the people in a state for the direction of their government but they choose to ignore the county by county red/blue maps that show it’s really urban vs rural.
They will next attempt to ban the sale of gasoline.
You really think they’re going to let gas stations stay open or are you going to homebrew your own gasoline?
“More fossil fuel for me.. awesome!”
Maybe the major refineries can do away with some of the costly, and mostly useless, boutique California fuel blends. They won’t need any gasoline there in the near future.
EC
That is exactly the playbook that happened with auto emissions. Car makers at one time had to build special versions of their products for California. Then a few other states adopted the CA emission regs. It wasn’t long before it became too costly to make two versions of cars, so the regs were adopted nationally.
That is what CA is doing and several other insane states are quickly falling in line.
I like it. The gnashing of the teeth by the demons o. The left will be fun to watch
