If I were a contract employee and scheduled a meeting with the board of directors to discuss my screwup, how long should the board wait after the promised time before letting that person go ?
(obviously if it came out that the employee had a heart attack from myocarditis or had an urgent meeting with Hunter maybe we could be lenient

I’ve seen managers who were always late to any meeting. They were late on purpose, forcing the lower-level people to wait, and wait just to emphasis the relative importance of them over the other attendees. You can bet that if the other people in the meeting were more important that he’d be on time. Probably he’d be early so he could kiss ass.

Glad you posted this. I took a four day long business/personal growth seminar in 2006 and they spent the first three hours pounding our heads about how being late (barring acts of God) reflects a compete lack of integrity - among other personal weaknesses. Since that, I’ve never been late for anything in 16 years, but for a very few times, but call after 5 minutes. These bureaucrats couldn’t care less, but gawd forbid you make THEM late for their private jet excursions.
