Spending time on Twitter can be illuminating. Never have I seen so much spamming going on from the left all about how Trump "stole" classified documents. You could call it the "Crapper Caper." I have repeatedly pointed out that the President can declassify anything he chooses. But it's not about that. It's about something very different.
Trump and his lawyers were cooperating with the National Archives and had already returned 15 boxes of materials. Than came a June meeting:
Trump's attorneys were present at that meeting and the sources say the former president himself stopped in to say hello for a few minutes."Perceived lack of cooperation." Note that Trump was not present. Perceived lack of cooperation is subjective. Without question, the Feds decided to perceive a lack of cooperation as a premise to ransack Trump's place. Lawyers were not allowed to observe as the FBI took everything, relevant to the visit or not.The meeting came months after the National Archives -- with assistance from the Justice Department -- was able to get 15 boxes of documents sent back to Washington, D.C. after expressing concern they were in Florida.
The June meeting was about additional documents that were being sought. But following it, the Justice Department and FBI felt they weren't getting the same cooperation they had been receiving earlier in the probe, according to a source with knowledge of negotiations between Trump's team and the federal entities.
The perceived lack of cooperation is why a search warrant was requested and ultimately executed on Monday, Aug. 8 at Trump's Palm Beach property.
Today Andrew McCarthy opined that the raid was not about classified documents, but rather a fishing expedition for the Jan 6 Satr Chamber
The Justice Department obviously used the potential classified information as a pretext to obtain a warrant so it could search for what it is really looking for: evidence that would tie Trump to a Capitol riot offense – either a violent crime, such as seditious conspiracy to forcibly attack a government installation (which is highly unlikely), or a non-violent crime, such as conspiracy to obstruct the January 6 joint session of Congress to count electoral votes, or conspiracy to defraud the government. He may be right or partly right. As we've noted previously, Kash Patel asserts that the documents present at Mar a Lago were already declassified but did not have the appropriate markings. Back in May Patel made a pretty good prediction:
“If they selectively leak stuff — and given this week’s Supreme Court leak, you can’t put it past anyone at the NARA or Congress who might have some of these documents and leak them to advance a false political narrative,” he said. That is what transpired. This, however, is what I find interesting:
“They are not a classification authority. I don’t believe they have unilateral authority to reclassify something the president declassified. They are the holder of records,” he said. That's important as it dovetails into something I wrote about late last night. Paul Sperry had a similar notion and posted this, and was immediately suspended by TwitterPatel did not want to get into what the specific documents were, predicting claims from the left that he was disclosing “classified” material, but said, “It’s information that Trump felt spoke to matters regarding everything from Russiagate to the Ukraine impeachment fiasco to major national security matters of great public importance — anything the president felt the American people had a right to know is in there and more.”

Hillary had 900 raw FBI files also.
The FBI didn’t have any problems with that at all.
Shows whose side they are on.
“Hillary Clinton was receiving and sending classified information on her personal computer at her home.”
The server was in the BATHROOM of her home, too.
The probable cause portion of the search warrant is SEALED.
They didn’t want Trumps lawyers to see it or it to be leaked.
So essentially the search warrant given at the scene is incomplete.
(Purposely)
According to the article, the FIB is trying to find and bury evidence of their own wrong doing.
Panic in DC.
Who doesn't doubt for a second that the Epstein judge who signed this warrant wouldn't gladly backfill the warrant (that, remember, the agents wouldn't let anybody see) with whatever articles and items the feebs find and decide constitute 'probable cause'.
The fbi is where young admirers of naziism get a job so they can use their guns, nightsticks, mace and handcuffs against the folks.
When will we know for sure and can stop reading these speculations?
Is this going to go to court soon?
That is why it is unconstitutional and illegal for the FBI not to present the warrant BEFORE the search.
HANG ‘EM HIGH!!!!
Only allowed if SCIF means Scene of Clinton's Intensive Farting.
Exactly what it sound like to me. This was done to protect the deep state. Maybe it was done out of panic after all. Hard to know.
Not trying to defend them but if the reason for the raid was classified, they couldn’t disclose it to those not cleared to see such things.
The age-old question of whether Leftists are stupid or evil - is easily answered once we acknowledge that there are two distinct groups:
1) Leftist leaders and politicians - who are evil.
2) Leftist followers and voters - who are stupid.
Evil Leftist leaders lie to their stupid Leftist followers - it’s as simple as that.
The part that amazes me is that those on the Right continue to treat the Right/Left “conversation” as if it is a serious and worthwhile debate over ideas - it is not.
The Left is based entirely on dishonesty and stupidity, and we should not pretend otherwise by engaging in conversations or a debates with them, or by attempting to make sense of their lies and misunderstandings.
LOL! Think he got that outfit from Meghan Markle.
No, they don’t have to reveal the contents of the classified material, but the warrant should clearly show evidence of criminal activity (”probable cause”) regarding specifically-identified classified documents, like a serial number or something for specificity, again, without reveling the contents.
Fair point.
I’m thinking the warrant would have said something like, Trump stole documents x/y/z that contain classified info.
I assume they classified the criminal activity that Trump stole something, leaving recover of documents on the warrant.
an excuse for a fishing expedition to locate some ham for convicting a ham sandwich
Gov. DeSantis should urge a Republican to retire and then appoint Donald Trump his replacement! Then when GOP wins in the next election he can become speaker ad lead the investigation of Joe Biden, Hunter Biden, Kamala Harris, Hillary Clinton, FBI etc... Impeachment and Trump becoming the President. The Florida Congress person could be re-instated—or given a better job in the Trump II Government. Maybe head of the New, scaled back FBI.
House member are replaced by special elections, only Senators get a replacement appointed.
The 4th Amendment MANDATES the search must be based on reasonable probable cause which must be reasonably shown BEFORE such search.
Under the Constitution, the Supreme Law of the Land that the Left ignores, the constitutionally-protected rights of individuals and their liberty and freedom from unjust government coercion generally trumps government interests including things like “classification”.
