When I use a word,’ Humpty Dumpty said in rather a scornful tone, ‘it means just what I choose it to mean — neither more nor less.’

’The question is,’ said Alice, ‘whether you can make words mean so many different things.’

’The question is,’ said Humpty Dumpty, ‘which is to be master — that’s all.”

― Lewis Carroll, George Orwell, Franz Kafka, Rod Serling. We live in times that are a strange mixture of them all...

Big Brother says “It has always been that recessions only happen during Republican administrations”.

Are we in agreement yet on the definition of insanity?

How many times does it have to happen for others to get a clue? Even FReepers???

Nothing is EVER going to change, no different than months/years ago.

They’re not even trying to hide it anymore. The mask has come off entirely. They must think they have this in the bag.

They either have this in the bag or they are incredibly stupid. I guess this election will prove which.

And you wonder why Newspeak is trending on social media, despite Big Tech's attempts to suppress it.

A year or so ago people were debating whether the social media companies had crossed the line between platform and content creator. Given this story, and a slew of similar ones recently, I’d say they’ve now just obliterated that line.

No question, these companies are creating content and should lose their protection under Section 230.

Looks like Facebook changed from being a place to post pictures of the dog to the government’s way of controlling thoughts and free expression. Although the government doesn’t own Facebook, it nevertheless colludes with Facebook to monitor postings and to promote those that obey the official party line and to trash those that don’t.

The government says that IT is not doing this. Oh, it would neeeever do anything illegal like that, noooo!

Doesn’t matter. By telling Facebook and other social media to monitor and control, the government is limiting thoughts and speech, which it has no right to do. Do the social media expect some kind of compensation in return, or do they do this willingly out of the goodness of their liberal hearts. (I think so).

Facebook and the other social media have become traps for those who do not adhere to the party line. The media tempt them to post their thoughts, and scan the postings for non-conforming individuals who are slated for punishment. The punishment is not always given by the government - companies who sympathize with the left cheerfully fire employees who post things that are not official dogma.

Are we not living in 1984?
The Brave New World was/is a non-fiction.
The movie ‘Idiocracy’ has become a documentary.

I’m re-reading “1984”. It’s scary how much it resembles 2022.

This makes perfect sense when you consider Fakebook's definition of "misinformation."

Misinformation: anything said that contradicts a Democrat position or just makes a Democrat look bad.

‘The economist said his post “drew attention to the fact that [PolitiFact is] using political talking points in lieu of actual fact-checking. They’re stepping in and becoming partisan actors here.” ‘

They’re not “becoming” partisan, they’ve always been partisan.

Well, the upside of this is that these “fact checkers” need to step in because every time the left was trying to debate on social media they were losing. The censorship is a desperation tactic from the losing side, and it’s a sign of their weakness. Don’t forget that.
