President Donald Trump issued a major warning about the new senate gun control bill that has been advanced in the senate.

Trump warned that this bill “will go down in history as the first step in the movement to take your guns away.”

This is another example of Trump breaking with the GOP establishment.

This legislation can be abused to restrict lawful gun purchases, infringe upon the rights of law-abiding Americans, and use federal dollars to fund gun control measures being adopted by state and local politicians. This bill leaves too much discretion in the hands of government officials and also contains undefined and overbroad provisions – inviting interference with our constitutional freedoms.

Decisions by the Supreme Court of the United States in the Heller and McDonald cases make clear that the Second Amendment is an individual constitutional freedom. We will always fight for those freedoms – and the fundamental values we have defended for over 150 years. ​

One thing you purists can count on, with Trump's endorsed candidates, we have a much better chance of taking back the House and Senate exactly because his candidates better match the voting electorate of the the Districts/States of the offices they are running for.

But you purists can beat your chests and pat yourselves on the back because of your fidelity to your principles, even if it would cost the rest of us to lose effective representation at the Federal Level.
