It’s knowing the difference between what one can change, and what one cannot change.

I would imagine a lot of people said that in the Revolutionary era.

More than half, is my guess.

Declaration of Independence was a revolutionary document - it was sedition IN YOUR FACE.

Risky businbess, this sedition thing. Government today is way nmore powerful, vindictive, and effective than the King was, and the supply chain to our oppressive goverment is minutes, not days.

I'm not going to fight it any more than I'd put up a fight against my local mafia enforcer. That's stupidity, suicidal.

I don't respect it and won't help it, either.

I refuse to live on my knees. I am too old and too used to living free. At some point I rig for silent running and wait and watch the marxist and go from those observations. The current system will implode upon itself at some point. Will we have a communist state, a French revolution event or another American revolution.

The country club GOP establishment fools will be the first ones put to the wall by the marxist when their roles as useful idiots are no longer needed.

No Big Deal!
Our communist masters know that the Aamerican sheeple will just continue to roll over and spread their collective cheeks...

Bow down!... Obey!... Snitch!...

Communist state is most likely. Even if guns are not taken away, organizing mass resistance will be too difficult and dangerous and most people would just rather not make the effort. Small organized groups will be infiltrated and killed before anything can be done.

If mass resistance does happen, history says that a French revolution is most likely. We’ll end up with a new dictatorship that oppresses in a different way, probably after a lot of blood. Any leader capable of organizing a resistance that can overthrow the existing power structure will either be naive and overthrown himself by someone bloodier or will ruthlessly keep power. George Washingtons are very rare.

Even if a new government is instituted that keeps to the Constitution, it will immediately be infiltrated by people arguing for it to be gentler and more fair. “We can’t exclude people with different opinions,” and the road to communism starts again.

“Those who don’t know history are doomed to repeat it. Those who do know history are doomed to watch others repeat it”.

Not optimistic.

“If Sean Hannity EVER invites that little Quisling weasel Lindsey Graham on his television show again,”

Seriously? Hannity is the mouthpiece of the enemy. I watched part of one show many years ago while visiting my mom. Never again. I cannot afford the resulting IQ loss.

“The article is a total lie, and is just click bait. It is meant to rile people up and it is working. There is no federal red flag law, there is no ability for the federal govt to take guns. The only thing it does is provide some optional grants to states. This law is a big nothing.”

I feel like our side gets easily riled up by clickbait very frequently and chases down rabbit holes in a complete waste of time. It’s so easy to believe this story, but it only really distracts from working on real issues that deserve time and energy.

They must not go unchallenged.

Correct, but the challenges will be minor to non-existent just like the challenges to the 2020 election.

Then again, the 6-year term is not a problem. The Senate is supposed to think in broader terms, not be subject to the sudden chaotic whims of political fashion. It’s to be the saucer where the passions cool.

The events of Jan. 6, 2021 demonstrate, 1) that the Senate did not think in broader terms other than removing Trump from office for their own selfish reasons. (It was not dissimilar to the Roman Senate knifing Julius Caesar in some ways.) and 2) the six year term for senators is a problem because they thought they could get away with a rigged election right after an election, and with 1/3 of them, at the start of their term in office. The six year term of office is very much a problem because is greatly limits accountability to the electorate. When our modern problems demonstrate something must be changed, then it must be changed.

I do agree with political contributions idea. Policing it so it would be truly from in the state or district would be a problem.

The fact that the usual sleazy politicians will attempt to avoid the limitation does not justify not creating it...

I also would like to see the states & congressional districts responsible for the care, upkeep & staff support (must bring direct reporting staff from district or state!) for their senators and representatives. Push the permanent congressional staff further down the decision-making food chain. When the congresscritter changes they likely will change.

The issue is more about taxation. Since the feds grab the most revenue, they have greater power than originally planned. I would prefer to limit the time Congress can sit, like many state do with their legislatures, and limit the time they can spend in D.C. or on tax payer paid junkets abroad. Make them come home and face their constituents. Require that their kids attend local schools, etc. to reduce the cliquish elitism.

“This is an absolutely terrible article. I checked the link, and there isn’t a single bit of the actual text from the bill anywhere in the article.”

Well, apparently there’s enough in this clickbait article to get the hand-wringing defeatists on FR fainting on their couches. Also note that of all the responses, only a handful suggest solutions to the problem. That’s encouraging. But FR’s entrenched surrender monkey brigade is happy to simply keel over and curl into a ball.

As you said: “It’s worthless.”

If we manage to win majorities back including the POTUS I have no doubt they will be the same ones going across the aisle and wasting our advantage (if we ever get all 3 branches again).

The Republican Party needs a coup, a cleansing—-bloodless of course.
