I mix it with water and a little sugar and soak cotton balls in the solution. Then I put the cotton balls in small pill bottles and put those where I see the bugs.

Make sure you only get food grade, and which you can even eat a little of. But do not breathe it!

When it comes to killing pests, your best bet is boric acid. Borax should not be used as a pesticide, though some people confuse the two or think they are the same. Borax can kill pests, though it is not nearly as effective as boric acid.
