Lye helps keep odors down in the outhouse.
Boric acid and de work well together on bare floors, but not as good on carpet.

Also used as an arc quenching medium in power fuses. Versatile stuff.

Your link is for Missouri chiggers, not Texas chiggers.

I mix it with water and a little sugar and soak cotton balls in the solution. Then I put the cotton balls in small pill bottles and put those where I see the bugs.

"What bugs does diatomaceous earth keep away?" Make sure you only get food grade, and which you can even eat a little of. But do not breathe it!

"put 1/2 teaspoon in a glass of water and drink it." Not recommenced except perhaps in very minute doses

"It is lethal to most insects as it disrupts their use of water, but vertebrates are not affected, in trace amounts."When it comes to killing pests, your best bet is boric acid. Borax should not be used as a pesticide, though some people confuse the two or think they are the same. Borax can kill pests, though it is not nearly as effective as boric acid.

I am very familiar with Texas ticks and chiggers etc. They’re bigger in MO.
