Hired for her typing skills but she was so inventive and such a masterful politician that she managed to wheedle her way into a number of important research projects. She was the 'chef' when they tried to invent shark repellent, but by her own admission she was a rotten cook until some years later when her diplomat husband got posted to Paris.

She also was 6-foot-two and wore a size 12 shoe (men's 10).
