LAGUNA WOODS, Calif. - The heroic actions of a Laguna Niguel doctor who died while trying to save fellow parishioners during Sunday's shooting at Geneva Presbyterian Church are being described by authorities as "literally the meeting of good versus evil."
He has been identified as Dr. John Cheng, 52, according to Orange County officials. He leaves behind a wife and two children.
Cheng "took heroic actions that day," officials said.
According to witnesses, Cheng charged the suspect, 68-year-old David Chou of Las Vegas in an attempt to disarm him, which allowed other parishioners to intervene. A pastor threw a chair at Chou and they were able to hogtie him before law enforcement arrived.

God bless Dr Cheng.
Finally, we get the story of what actually happened. The doctor would likely have survived if he had assaulted the murderer with a handgun. In my church there are several self-appointed guardians who go to mass armed and position themselves to be able to cover the doors.
Greater love has no man than that he should lay down his life for another.
The majority of the time, the very first responders regular folk.
True hero
That’s a real man.
This story will disappear, for a few reasons.
-Wrong perp demographic. Might’ve been OK except the victims weren’t black.
-victims took charge and showed courage and chivalry (trying to take out perp while saving others). This is against the life-long (for me) narrative of “don’t do this at home - call the police, it’s too dangerous”.
Wow, I see the doctor is only a few days younger than I!
“doors had been chained after others had been shot,”
What?
‘to assess “whether we pursue or seek death with respect to hate crimes.”’
And here we go.
Big Brother wants to kill you for thought crimes.
How about sticking to ACTIONS, you commie bastards?
God Bless this hero.
A good and noble man. Go with God Doctor Cheng
