My mother broke her hip at mid 80’s. I was staying with her to make sure she did her rehab. She was a tough old bird.
Survived breast cancer, too. Died of kidney failure at 96. Looks like I am not. Prayers to you and your family.

Philippians 4:6-7 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Mr. mm broke his hip many years ago. He was about 50 I’d say, and he still had a long road of recovery.

There will be PT for many months at least.

What was nice was that he had a visiting nurse come a couple times a week and some in home PT for a few weeks, until he could get around well enough for me to take him to it.

He started with a walker and had to stay on one floor, initially, but then graduated to crutches and eventually stairs.

There’s the chance your mom may need to go into rehab, depending on her age and general level of health.

It’ll be a few months for recovery, but not sure about time in rehab if she goes there.

My 82 year old wife basically just collapsed, not a fall on to our kitchen floor in Feb. of this year.’

She was in line for a hip replacement and when they finally got to her, her new Xrays showed that she had basically the same break that your mother had plus a bad hip bone.

On 1 March, she had her hip replacement and a socket repair job. By the time she had gotten home (same day), the pain on her left hip, ankle and foot had disappeared. Then, she started feeling the replacement pain, which minimal drugs helped.

She had home pt/nurse for the first two weeks. Then, 2 x a week at the clinic. She is now getting PT therapy once a week at the clinic and doing PT regimens at home by herself.

@ two months post op, her doctor told her to continue to do what she was doing slowlt, and he would see her in a year.

Her energy level is coming back slowly. If she tries to do too much, she gets tired and irritable.

A male friend had the same operation, and he suggested that I buy a Glide Rollator instead of the old standard recovery walker.

It was a great suggestion, and she does a great job with it.

It is very sturdy and balanced. It can become a seat to rest in/on. It weighs 18 pounds and fits in our vehicle’s trunk. It can be bought from Amazon and requires no assembly.

From before, during and post op, everyone has warned her that recovery will take a long time and not to overdue it.

Good luck with your Mother. Don’t let her rush recovery.
