Or, yet another reason why I’m glad I’m raising my own chickens...in Florida.

I don’t know how it happened but one of my chickens started laying duck eggs. They are double the size of the other chicken’s eggs. She must be the one that squawks like she’s dying when she lays them.

Just in time for Easter egg coloring.

Quite convenient.

Last I looked (~ a week ago?) 1 doz. large eggs were still about $1.26 at Aldi. Cage free ~2.65, IIRC.

We generate a lot of extra eggs from our little semi-free range flock, but, at present I just cook ‘em and feed them back to the flock. If regular store-bought eggs really go over $2 / doz. here, I may re-think that. (Should be able to get at least $3 / doz. for ours.)

Absolutely! Not only would you make some extra $. But, I promise you there is a market for those who want fresh eggs. I’m one and if you were nearby, I’d be your best customer.

+++++++

Glad you are in Florida. Watch soon for “blue” states to further crack down on those who have a chicken coop in the back yard with a dozen or so hens and a rooster. All for the health and common good of the nation, of course.

“but, at present I just cook ‘em and feed them back to the flock.”

That’s cannibalism. Can you tell the difference between the Aldi eggs and the cage free? If so, what is it?

Well in some of these affected States the Government men are showing up at backyard chicken yards and culling all fowl at gun point in some cases. I know two fellow chicken owners have this happen to them..I have thought about what if they show up at my place as my Chicken math is all goofed up and somehow ended up with 300+. Thinking we may have to have a serious argument as I keep a closed flock so no outside people are allowed..On a side bar last week I had a 200 chick heritage order with McMurray Hatchery and they got hit and they destroyed pretty much everything as my order was to ship today..Hearing they are culling regardless of a positive test or not.

Wisconsin has now had at least three and maybe four farms shut down and their flocks of hundreds of thousands of birds ‘euthanized.’

Where are the PETA pukes? Where are the ‘Aminal Advacates’ dressing up like chickens and marching through the land?

*SMIRK*

Egg prices are soaring - but what foodstuff ISN’T?

Let’s Go, Brandon! *SPIT*

If she’s one of your older hens, that’s the reason. Older hens will lay less, but will lay the bigger eggs.

And, yep. That’s GOT to hurt, LOL!

THE BIRD FLU DID NOT KILL THE CHICKENS. THE GOVERNMENT DID. They’re using the same kind of flawed, false-positive PCR tests they used for COVID. They’re INTENTIONALLY REDUCING THE FOOD SUPPLY.
