- Elon Musk, 50, last week was revealed to be the biggest shareholder in Twitter, having bought a stake worth 9.2 percent - four times that of founder Jack Dorsey. - Agrawal said he thought Musk's decision was 'for the best' and said the company must remain focused on its corporate goals.
- He did not say why Musk would not join, but suggested that shareholders had expressed concern.
- Several Twitter employees tweeted reactions to the announcement, seemingly agitated by the roller coaster surrounding Musk's company involvement.
- On Monday, Twitter stock briefly fell to 8% in premarket trading, before mostly recovering to an only 2% decline.
- Analysts speculate the drop stemmed from news of Musk's board seat refusal.
Twitter stock fell 8 percent in premarket trading Monday after the social media giant revealed majority shareholder Elon Musk had refused his seat on the company's board of directors.
Musk, who disclosed a 9.2 percent stake in Twitter just a few days ago, was offered a board seat on Tuesday, and his appointment was to become effective on Saturday. But Chief Executive Parag Agrawal announced Sunday evening that the Tesla CEO had decided to decline.
'Elon shared that same morning that he will no longer be joining the board', Agrawal said on Twitter, adding that he thought it was 'for the best'

I would like to see Elon Musk run twitter. It might become a force for good instead of evil.
I doubt all the socialist, anti-capitalists at Twitter will mind that the market-based share price has fallen.
I’m never going back on it.
I’d love to see what he can do in charge of this company.
Price for stock will be driven higher.....pro-Musk/anti-Twitter people will pick up stock prior to the late May stock-holder meeting. I think that event will shock people....with just over 50-percent of stock-holders backing Musk and his direction.
And now with the share price down, he can buy more...

These libtards are so used to riling up leftist antifa mobs with their virtue signaling tweets, that they just can’t control themselves from tweeting smack about their new boss!
Parag should be polishing his resume.
Same here. Got an account, found out how toxic the whole thing was, deleted account.
I’ll go back as part of Trump’s return only.
They wanted him to sign a contract which in effect would prevent him from interfering with the way they run it.
In other words, he beat them at their own game. LOL
no way
way way to many woke employees who hate him
it will never work
“way way to many woke employees who hate him”
Don’t be too sure of that. There may well be significant turnover, but Twitter is still only a small portion of the tech business. There is definitely a pro-America Tech Disporia spread out in the rest of the business (and I personally know of a few) and if they have an opportunity to finally work in a ‘safe space’, they may well migrate to Twitter, or at least consider it.
I’d be surprised if he went for a controlling interest. Liberals buy cars, too.
I will laugh my zzz off if he mounts a hostile takeover. Then reinstates Trump. 😏
You wonder what percentage of the employees agree with the censoring and how many just remain silent.
I would like to see someone acquire a company like Twitter and start censoring the liberals.
