How long until the hood rats start hijacking loads of gasoline and holding up gas stations?
I’ve been watching the street and thugs are cranking their engines
“How long until the hood rats start hijacking loads of gasoline and holding up gas stations?”
That hadn’t even occurred to me, yet! You’re probably not wrong.
It happened in 1974 - when we were in slightly worse shape than today, under Carter:
“A tank truck loaded with 3,000 gallons of gasoline was hijacked at gunpoint last night at Commerce and Zarega Avenues in the Westchester section of the Bronx, the police reported.
The driver of the truck, identified as William Weber, 24 years old, told the police of the Bennedict Avenue precinct that he was traveling down Zarega Avenue when a man suddenly jumped in front of the vehicle, a 1972 Mack truck, operated by the Island Transporation Company, 299 Main Street, Westbury, Long Island.
Mr. Weber told the police he had jammed on the brakes, nearly hitting the man in the street, who then pulled a gun and ordered him from the cab of the truck. Suddenly Mr. Weber said, a second man appeared, handcuffed him and placed a blindfold over his eyes, and forced him into an automobile.
The incident began shortly after 6 P.M., Mr. Weber told the police. He said he was driven around in the car until 8:45, then released at 233d Street and White Plains Road in the Wakefield section of the North Bronx where he reported the theft to the police of the 47th Precinct at 229th Street. He was unharmed.”
