I wonder how many of those 64% vote for Democrats, whether they know it or not?

It’s gonna take them a little time to come up with a positive spin on this one.

The data show[] that 48% of consumers earning more than $100,000 per year reported living paycheck to paycheck in January 2022 — up from 42% in December 2021.

We make about 130K per year, and I still put 22k a year in my 457b, and a few thousand in the Roth.

The demographic that will suffer worst is the working poor. Seems like the Demoncrats WANT to drive them onto welfare.

Between inflation and the stock market many retired people are in a world of hurt.

For working people, 100k is not very much money anymore. Especially on the coasts. Housing costs can easily be 3-4k/month.

The USA is a seriously mismanaged country.

My boss and I were discussing the stats of people living paycheck to paycheck the other day. We have seen stats like this for years. Then, COVID happened, people out of work, dropping out of the work force, etc. How did these people survive? I know we had extra government money for a while, but that has long since dried up. If you have millions of people living paycheck to paycheck, and the paychecks have stopped, where are all the starving, homeless people? I’m not discounting the study; this is a legitimate question.

One of our DILs watched my wife, who is recovering from a hip replacement yesterday morning, while I did errands and bought groceries at about 10 am.

The semi local small store owned by a big chain was basically empty of customers. I was able to place orders at the deli, produce section and meat market without standing in line.

When I was ready to checkout, there was no customers in line besides me.

I asked the checker, “Where all of the customers were?”

Her reply was simple, “They can only afford gas this week!”

Our county/city and state had some of the highest gas prices in the nation, over the weekend. The gas prices were increasing daily and hourly at some stations after the weekend.

A very large % of the customers in this store are retired or semi retired.

What was interesting was the heavy traffic to and from the little mall in spite of the gas prices.

64% live paycheck to paycheck and 61% pay no income taxes. These numbers sure seem related.
