Joni Mitchell is joining her old friend and contemporary Neil Young in having her legendary music catalog pulled from Spotify over concerns about vaccine misinformation being spread on the platform’s popular Joe Rogan Experience podcast.
In a brief note posted to her official website on Friday, the singer-songwriter wrote, “I’ve decided to remove all my music from Spotify. Irresponsible people are spreading lies that are costing people their lives. I stand in solidarity with Neil Young and the global scientific and medical communities on this issue.”
Hey I like englebert!
I really might have to sign up from Spotify even though Amazon streaming is cheaper and works well.
The Cowsills.
Please note, I am not saying that this bothers me. Pretentious people telling me what I can or cannot think for myself have never interested me.
Maybe that is why I don't remember her.
Laura Nyro fills that slot.
Really? I use it like a radio. In my car I listen to great talk and interviews and the old Car Talk comedy shows that are still funny all these years later.
The best thing everyone can do in TRUE SOLIDARITY IS SIGN UP FOR A SPOTIFY ACCOUNT. This major provider is the only commercial service with courage to commit to freely dissminate information.
So sign up now at SPOTIFY.Com.
We have someone who is barely functional living in the White Houseand ruining the country, so really, anything is possible.
Gee. I’m at a loss as to what I’m going to do w/out Joni’s music on spotify.
Fun fact...
Ed King, guitarist for Strawberry Alarm Clock, left the group to join Lynyrd Skynyrd.
Never saw Joni as an unpaid stooge for Big Pharma but there she is...
Kinda ironic to see musicians wanting to ban stuff because the squares have deemed it “offensive”
Solidarity of the Canadian good songwriters/lousy, whiny, nasal singers.
Who is Joni Mitchell and why would I give a crap what she thinks!!!!
“Will we see a flood of “protest songs” about Biden’s coming war in Ukraine?”
If we had a military draft you would. I think that was the main beef of the hippies with the Vietnam war.
It is interesting that you say they have a right to express their opinions. In Canada the only people with the right to express their opinions are on the left. You can find yourself in front of a court and be fined and jailed for speaking the truth. They have their hate speech tribunals.
Moving on, I definitely disagree with criticizing her on her looks. That’s just what the liberals do. Both she and Neil Young are leftist yo-yos. However they both put out some extremely good music when they were young. And I have the number of their albums. I think about 1980 Neil Young’s music became repetitious and boring. The last thing I bought of his was in 1978 Live CD rust never sleeps.
I wonder if a conservative American were to go to Canada and say the kinds of things about leftism and liberals that Young and Mitchell say about us here, what would happen?
As a side note I saw interview with Joni Mitchell some years ago and she started smoking when she was about 12. She said the reason she began to sing was the earn money to buy cigarettes. Who knows if 65 years of smoking had anything to do with her brain aneurysm or stroke. I’m actually impressed that she’s made it to this age.
Never really listened to her or young to begin with.
Going back and reading what I wrote it looks like I’m implying that all Canadians are idiots. Obviously that is not the case. I do feel that because they are Canadians and not US citizens that it is rather ballsy come to my country take my money and criticize me.
I’d looked at Joan and asked her what’d she expect after we left.
Joni who! Neil who! Take a hike you just got your last minute of fame.
