Rafael Nadal is a truly great tennis player but the once great sporting nation of Australia has abandoned it's own proud history of sportsmanship to persecute Nadal's rival Djokovic for insisting on his rights to medical privacy and personal control of what substances are injected into his own body.
I rate the chances pretty low of Cheif Commissioner Shane Patton doing anything to bring Novak's vicious criminal persecutors to justice. But I have started the formal process by demanding an investigation and one young police officer took the first step toward doing that.
Patton should support her.
And when and if he does fail to lift a finger to work for justice by upholding the law in this matter, he should be condemned for incompetence and investigated by IBAC, the Independent Broadbased Anticorruption Commission.
If the good laws are upheld, the Police State of Victoria will stop being a police state.
Aufulstralia.
Whatever judge(s),elected official(s) or government bureaucrat(s) who were responsible for Djokovic having been told to leave did Australia's reputation huge damage.
Maybe if he said his pronouns were she/her, the outcome would have been different.
I agree.
I lived there from 1982-84. Some of the best times of my life, and I mates i made were the some of the best people I ever knew.
But this is just shameful. Some Australians think it’s okay because they’re keeping out Covid.
Well, they’re not going to do it. Not only will they be eventually exposed to it, they’re letting their own National spirit and what it means to be a right Aussie in the attempt be crush.
Here’s the real science. There’ll never be a vaccine that keeps you 100% from getting Covid, and the real risk is being fat, diabetic and old.
I had the two shots and got Covid anyway. The same has happened to millions. Even with a booster, you can get it.
It’s their country. He was told not to show if he wasn’t vaccinated. He came anyway, was told to leave, argued about it and ultimately left. It was Djokovic’s choice not to take the shots. It is never anyone’s right to be allowed in a country. And by entering the country after being told not to against the wishes of the government of that country, it was he that released his covid situation. If he had stayed home, no one would have known about it.
“insisting on his rights to medical privacy”
Medical privacy is not a right. It is a legal system within any country that wants to have it. It is a privilege. And in that country, right now, not one they are supporting. It’s their stance, their country. And he knew that before he got on the plane. And whether he was lied to by the tennis association there that had promised him immunity from the law, which they obviously don’t have the authority to do, he should have been clear on that when he boarded the flight. It’s his fault, not Australia.
They are doing what they think is in the best interest of their country and it is openly displayed for everyone. Djokovic tested positive, his last test in December, went to an event which he should not have, and then knowing he would be barred tried to go around the rules. They even allowed him to stay for a while while the court reviewed his protest, which they didn’t have to do. I have no sympathy for him.

Just curious....are *your* papers in order?
So you would be OK with someone posting your medical history online? Even the parts about STD's or other social diseases?
In the meantime, we have the government of this country releasing thousands of illegal immigrants into our country with no vaccine requirement at all. Illegals get a pass and legal citizens get banned and punished. What a country!
They could roll all the tennis players into ditch and light them on fire and I wouldn’t care.
Also folks who post vanity threads every day or so.
27 Jan: UK Express: Novak Djokovic given food for thought on future after tournament chief’s admission
NOVAK DJOKOVIC faces an uncertain future in tennis after his Australian Open fiasco.
By CHARLIE GORDON
Novak Djokovic has been given food for thought on his tennis future after Miami Open tournament director James Blake claimed that he would ‘love’ to see the Serb compete this year...
Miami Open chief James Blake, however, has thrown caution to the wind by claiming that the Serbian extraordinaire would be welcome at the tournament, which runs from March 21-28.
“We’d love to have him, he’s one of the greatest champions we’ve ever had in the sport,” he told the Miami Herald (LINK).
“I believe he will go down as the greatest champion. He still got quite a few more years of being at or near the top of the game...
Amid tightening Covid rules in France, it was speculated that Djokovic would not be allowed to compete in May’s French Open if he refused to budge on his firm stance against being vaccinated.
But he has since been offered hope, with La Gazzetta (LINK) claiming that a Covid infection within six months of the tournament would be enough to earn a Covid passport, which is needed to enter public places...

What the hell is a tyranny lover posting here for? Did you forget to stop at DU?
“Ozguy’s post isn’t “vanity”.”
Every thread he’s ever posted is a vanity he’s “written” himself.

All is vanity, never any source.
You are very good at not caring about other human beings.
I like to think that I am not as good at that as you are.
“Aufulstralia”
You got it in one.
But some of us are trying to set things right again.
Changing his pronouns would have been a big problem for Ash Barty. With the amount of votes to be had in defending her, ScoMo and his ministers might have done exactly the same thing.
I disagree with you but concede there is a debate to be had. A freedom-march starts here in a matter of minutes so I can’t respond in detail.
Thanks for your own detailed response.
You may be right, but I care about them enough to not make them read a bunch of crappy vanity posts.
