Anyone in? It'll be new from the way I did things in the past.
The method will be using a real bona fide survey site. The approach will be quite different from my tournaments of the past. (e.g., 1950s Chart-Toppers Survey start is how it started last time)
Please bear with me though, as this is totally different and I have to get used to the survey site usage. But I think it'll make my life easier once I put up the threads!
To: a fool in paradise; AbnSarge; Alberta's Child; Albion Wilde; Artemis Webb; bagster; benldguy; ...
Please consider participating in a music poll!
Would like to start with 1950s.
What do you think?
Let me know on or off the ping list!

I would love to participate, and I want you to please keep me on your ping list ... but I will be of limited value to a 1950s music survey because it’s before my time and I don’t know many of the songs from that era. I will do my best!

Sounds like fun.It will get my mind off of food prices, unemployment, the impending invasion of Taiwan....

My moms music
It’s weird the early reflections as a child of the 60s ...19950s rock and roll and rockabilly sounded dated very fast
Buddy Holly ....some of it ...like not fade away didn’t
That didn’t happen so much later in my chronology of music
The Stones usually don’t feel as dated but some later music does for sure
Disco which I loathed......doo wap as well which is awful
And 70s excess rock
Some southern rock..
Much new wave and punk
And some grunge
But some acts hold up....the quality or uniqueness
50s rock starts in my opinion with Rocket 88 with Ike turner and his nom de guerre in clarksdale Mississippi
It really didn’t end till the Beatles

Yup, it’s before my time but I grew up with my parents’ tastes and exploring further. Since they listened to many different things I did too. Many of us ‘80s Kids were into “oldies” R&R - we had radio stations and so on still back then. Also, still records around (including 45 singles) so you might not be prejudiced by that aspect either.

It’ll all be based on the top 10 of each year from Billboard. Amazing how versatile the ‘50s - and even the ‘60s - was. That means lots of styles and types bubble to the very top.

Yes, indeed. You’ve put a lot of work into creating similar tournaments in the past, and I look forward to participating in this one.

Annie Lennox has a remarkable voice. Her version of Walking in a Winter Wonderland was amazing. She is more manly than most men.
