My moms music

It’s weird the early reflections as a child of the 60s ...19950s rock and roll and rockabilly sounded dated very fast

Buddy Holly ....some of it ...like not fade away didn’t

That didn’t happen so much later in my chronology of music

The Stones usually don’t feel as dated but some later music does for sure

Disco which I loathed......doo wap as well which is awful

And 70s excess rock

Some southern rock..

Much new wave and punk

And some grunge

But some acts hold up....the quality or uniqueness

50s rock starts in my opinion with Rocket 88 with Ike turner and his nom de guerre in clarksdale Mississippi

It really didn’t end till the Beatles

“It really didn’t end till the Beatles”

The Beach Boys and Jan & Dean were kind of a bridge between 1950s rock and the Beatles. Surf rock and hot rod rock. I recall that lasting for maybe a year or two. Others may have a clearer memory of it than I do. Beatles arrived in late 1963 right about the time of the JFK assassination. It sometimes seems to me that history got real crowded starting about then.
