This would probably be a good time to remind everyone that Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) refused to endorse Donald Trump for president at the RNC nominating convention back in 2016. We could have ended up with “President Hillary Clinton” because of that petty stunt, but fortunately, support for Trump was way too massive.
Cruz is easy to like for those of us on the right, so it’s always painful to watch when he has one of those “moments” where he figuratively pours gas on himself and lights a match. He had another one this week when delivering a speech in the Senate. Cruz said that the January 6 protests were a “violent terrorist attack,” using the approved talking points of Nancy Pelosi to describe what was actually a mostly peaceful protest.
That speech earned Cruz a trip to the forefront of the world of memes, and this little gem where he’s wearing one of the pink yarn hats from the Women’s March. A violent terrorist attack?
Good grief! Many of the people targeted by the Justice Department since that day are our friends and neighbors. It really was a mostly peaceful protest. Whose side is Ted Cruz on, anyway?

The so-called leaders of the republican party are OUT OF TOUCH with American-first, Americans-first conservatives.
We are being ruled by elites, oligarchs, globalists and the CCP. Our treasury has been plundered (30 trillion in debt and counting). Christian influence and morality in government and society has been muted and vilified by the powers ruling us.
Our nation has undergone a coup in 2020. Government leaders in high places selectively apply the law for political gain - to the hurt of us all. Have we reached a tipping point, where the wicked and lawless can and will do anything they choose? Short of a civil war, I don't know that American will ever recover from our current fallen state.
Ever since his self-implosion of his 2016 primary campaign Cruz has demonstrated that he does have the personal political skills, political awareness or personality to be a presidential candidate. Senator is his terminal political office. He should accept that. He can do great things for Texas and the country from that office. Unfortunately, it seems the “presidential bug” is eating him from within. He will tank his senatorship if he’s not careful. (Maybe he already has !)
Maybe Rep Louie Gohmert should consider running for Senator, rather than TX AG.
Completely agree with your statement. Did he choose words unwisely? Yes. But as you said, if you look at his conservative track record, it is strong. If we eat our own for every small mishap, we will have nobody in our corner.
—> He made a mistake and he owned up to it
He got caught. It wasn’t a mistake.
Like most politicians, Cruz is on Cruz's side first, last and always. Like most politicians, he's in it to get as rich as possible, and he'll spout whatever words he thinks will further his goal. Period.
Dittos
Poor Ted. He was always high-strung.
No he didn't. "I'm sorry that people misunderstood my words." is not an apology.
The Tucker interview was even worse than the original statement. He revealed himself as the snake he is.
+1.
He should talk to Newt about what sitting on that couch with Pelosi, endorsing anthropogenic climate change, did to his political career. It ended it. This is almost exactly the same thing.
(here’s what I just posted on a separate thread)
Sorry Ted, you could have KEPT YOUR MOUTH SHUT, but instead you gave Aid and Comfort to the Democrats at the PERFECT TIME for them.
Ted, you cannot Twitter your way out of this mess.
But perhaps you TRUTHFULLY tell us what led you to say what you did could be a first step in your redemption. Here are some possibilities:
1) Your wife made you.
2) You still work with that bitch who posted the anti-Trump picture in 2016.
3) Frank Luntz’s (hand-selected) ‘focus groups’ told you attacking Trump again would help further your political ambitions.
4) Out of the 15 Million or so Trump supporters in Texas, you literally have ZERO friends in this group - so you have no idea if Frank is telling you the truth.
After that, perhaps you consider joining the conservatives, regardless of what Frank tells you:
1) If you want to Tweet, fine, how about asking questions about John Sullivan or Ray Epps? Questions like why are they not being investigated by the House? (and many, many others)
2) Organize and lead protests to get our political prisoners out of jail.
3) APOLOGIZE to Trump for all of your attacks on him as someone who causes violence (including your attacks on him when his supporters were getting beat up waiting for campaign events in 2016).
4) Tell Frank to shove it and pick 10 random FReepers as your focus group. We don’t have to necessarily tell you what to do (I can see that causing other problems), but we can at least tell you what not to do (such as flying to Cancun when people are freezing to death or joining Glen Beck at the border to hand out stuffed animals to kids coming here illegally).
You still have over 2 years before your next Primary, which is an eternity in the political world, but right now you’re going in the wrong direction.
No fk you, I won’t “move on.” Sick of that
So just STFU.
About 80 million Americans voted to make a demented old man President of the United States.

Thanks for the laugh!
Well put.
Ted Cruz did a masterful job of doing that all by himself.
Don't blame people who are reacting to Cruz's dishonesty. Once trust is broken, it's extremely difficult to rebuild it. Cruz broke our trust in him.
Is he one of our own??? I think he just proved he’s one of their’s.
OR this was all a conspiracy to get Ted Cruz to willingly call protestors terrorists, then get Tucker Carlson to have him on his show, get Tucker Carlson to grill him relentlessly, force Ted to be a stumbling unbelievable Senator (ok that’s not hard), and now Republicans mostly don’t like him.
Yeah...either Carlson jumped on the “get Ted” bandwagon for ratings for his show or he gave Cruz the opportunity to truly admit he was absolutely wrong (which he didn’t), or Ted Cruz screwed up and Tucker Carlson is like the rest of us....wondering when one powerful conservative Senator will step forward and not stop until the Americans sitting in solitary confinement and many unjustly held without reason are free.
Obviously, it ain’t going to be Ted.
>>No Cruz is not a conservative he’s a calculating opportunist.<<
Ted Cruz has served the citizens of Texas well. I’ve said many times, as solicitor general of Texas he fought the Obozo administration before the Supreme Court over a dozen times to defend the citizens of Texas against federal overreach by that dumb @$$ Obozo...and won!
As Senator, he has continued to fight leftist and has made very positive impacts even though our side is not in power.
I’m guessing by your FR handle, you’re from Georgia. GG, go back and research Ted Cruz’s voting record. Have you done this? If you have not, you will see a SOLID conservative voting record.
Opportunist? Damn, he is wading through the D.C. swamp and before there was ever a Donald Trump, Cruz referred to the swamp/deep state as the Warshington Cartel.
Furthermore, Trump’s got his warts as well. He is a freakin bloviating, yankee ego maniac...but was a DAMN good president. Let’s not dismantle our side right before critical elections in a few months.
It would be a huge mistake as there is so much on the line in November.
