If he was trying to help the Jan 6 political prisoners, they wouldn’t still be incarcerated.
He’s saying what he believes we want to hear and then doing exactly nothing.
He’s not on our side. He never was. Never will be.

Every once in a while, Ted Cruz says or does something really stupid. Who was he hoping to please with his statement? The Left still despises him and he seriously damaged himself with conservatives.
In my judgment Cruz did not stand up well against Carlson's justifiable skepticism.
If Cruz really seeks rehabilitation he should provide the world with one of the many alleged statements he has made in the past equating people who attack police with terrorists. If he can do so, his conservative record means he deserves a pass. If not, he will be harshly judged and rightly so.
Regrettably, there are many on this thread who confuse conservatism with devotion to one man so they will never forgive Cruz for opposing Trump despite Cruz' real accomplishments on behalf of conservatism even if Cruz can produce proof that justifies his grossly ill considered remarks. I initially opposed Trump and supported Cruz and but came to support Trump after he kept faith with conservatism while in office. I remind these people that it was Trump who traduced Cruz when he accused Cruz' father of culpability in the assassination of John F. Kennedy and attacked Cruz' wife. We who originally supported Cruz have had a lot to overlook when it came time to support Trump -as we did. We who deplore the hypocrisy of Democrats on January 6 ought to apply the same standards to ourselves.
Cruz is UTTER SCUM!! He is a swamp creature through and through BUT he will keep getting re-elected, WE ALL get what we deserve!! Lesser of two evil is NO WAY TO VOTE, we have given ourselves these gutless wonders, we only have ourselves to blame!! GOP are full blown pussies!! There are possibly 5-10 people in BOTH chambers deserving my vote out of 350 republicans only 5-10 that says a whole lot about how WE ALL vote!!

nathanbedford, I have the utmost respect for you, however Cruz remarks in my mind were not about Trump, his remarks were more about agreeing with the OVER THE TOP narrative about Jan. 6th, a terrorist attack REALLY?? Cruz is dead to me, giving the left those remarks was the perfect ammunition for them!!

Ted is a sleazy liar and trying to play both ends against the middle. Everything this a$$hat says is planned and scripted. He’s trying to position himself for POTUS in 2024.
It tells us much more than just how we vote.
It demonstrates that voting has been rendered worthless. The political parties serve as a filter to ensure only those compliant to the corruption and controllable through blackmail and other strings are allowed anywhere near political power.
We don’t have two major political parties and haven’t for nearly a full generation now. We have a uniparty that play acts as two opposing wings but that’s all theater for the peasants.
There will be occasional shows of pretend outrage, just enough to molify the public, and then once the doors are closed, the deals are made and the game goes on and nothing changes for the better.
And now, we’ve well and truly entered the world where “it doesn’t matter who votes or how they vote, it only matters who counts the vote”.
Be on the approved list of whoever controls apparatus such as Dominion electronic voting and never have to worry about actually having to legit win an election ever again... or for as long as you remain on the approved list.
Remember, when you were young, and learning about such horror shows as Nazi Germany or Soviet Russia or Maoist China and you’d ask yourself, “how could the people put up with that crap? Why didn’t they rise up and do something?”

Ted’s problem is that “we the people” understand exactly what he meant. I have viewed him as a shill for oligarchs for quite some time. He chose the wrong team some time ago and revealed it again in those comments. He knew exactly what he was doing and assumed that we are stupid enough to support him.

Trump attacked Cruz and his wife for Cruz's proxy hit, and then restated the National Enquirer allegation. Together, it was unseemly from both sides, but the 1-2 hit back on Cruz did him in that week.
It's a big club and we aren't in it.
The people are given a small selection, and all one has to be, to win is be marginally better or marginally different from the opponents. Hence "close race." The few non-globalists and non-politicians who gain office have the fortitude to get past the gate - MTG comes to mind. This is only a small number. Trump fit that category too, being both a non-globalist and non-politician.
It is near impossible for a non-politician to navigate the path to the ballot. The professional politicians have made that path arduous, full of traps and pitfalls, expensive.
Given a choice between Beto and Cruz, what are the people going to do? The GOP will try to crush any intraparty opposition to the incumbent. Murkowski should be long gone, but isn't.
I sense a bit of the people being fed up and waking up. I doubt "the sysytem" is willing or able to correct itself. The people will just fade back to pissed off with nowhere to go.
