20 years ago today after months of lurking, I joined the hallowed ranks of free patriotic Americans.
Free Republic has been since then a daily part of my ritual. I've enjoyed the camaraderie, the fun, the sarcasm and even the arguments. Thanks for being the friends I'll never meet.
Along the way, I've met a handful of Freepers and had the opportunity to shake Jim's hand.
The absolutely amazing thing about our community is that for nearly every story, major and minor, someone in our community has a personal stake, sometimes as a true subject matter expert, sometimes as a witness or has a personal stake in the event.
I will confess that I tend to break FReeper rules often. For instance, I usually will read the article before commenting.
One rule I did not break today was in making a donation to Free Republic in exchange for posting a vanity.
May God bless you and our country. Remember that Jesus Christ is the reason we celebrate Christmas. Wise men still seek him.
Good for you. But still wet behind the earsđ
Hopefully by now you’ve learned the basics, like not reading the post prior to commenting on it.
You were a little late to the party but glad you joined.
I think this userid is older than that
Congratulations, cyclotic! It has been great having discourse with you over the years.
A Merry Christmas, and a happy, healthy, and prosperous New Year to you in 2022, FRiend.
So youâre that troublemaker discussed in the Smokey Back Room over wine and cheese âŠ.. Merry Christmas, Happy New Year and Congratulations
Happy FReeper Birthday!
lol yea I think I was 5, but I’m bad at math in the morning. ;-)
A bit. In my mind the dividing line is September 11, 2001.
It’s still vivid.
If someone posted a thread where freepers could post images of themselves when they were very young that would be fun...
I’d hate to post an image of myself today....lol
I have been here for 17 years and I still do not know how to a picture.
Merry Christmas! From one in the crowd behind youâŠ

You can't just snag a favorite picture from a desktop folder...it has to be hosted someplace on line to be posted here. Best bet is to save the image to an image hosting service, I use imgbb. In Firefox right click and select "Copy image location", in Safari right click and select "Open image in new tab" and copy the address in the address bar. Other browsers have similar tricks. Imgbb allows you to imbed codes to do all the HTML heavy lifting automatically.

You can pre-cue a YouTube video by adding a t parameter to the link. Like so:

Now about that home page of yoursâŠ
Protip: Make the very first thing <blockquote> this will move everything that follows a wee bit to the right, giving you a nice left margin. Of course since any HTML command anywhere will be assumed to require HTML for every bit of text, all your paragraphs will need to have paragraph <p>, and line breaks <br>âŠ
That will result in this image being displayed..
That's a picture of Jimrob BTW... just try it and your post will display the same image... you can do it with any image from the web..or just post your own on an image site and stick its url into the template above :-)
Congrats, to you, both! đ„
I had my own web page back in those days, so I didn’t want Jim to steal my views.
Jim won.
;-)
Thank you and Merry Christmas. I will give it a try.
