Spray and pray
I once shot a quail with a .32-40, octagon barrel Savage-99, buckhorn sights.
The back of the skull, and the lower beak was all that was left of the head. I showed my older brother, and told him, “I couldn’t remember if Dad said to aim for the right eye, or the left, so I shot both at once.”
Mom, using a sightless .22 rifle no one else could shoot, shot an onion stealing gopher from her kitchen window, 25-30 yards. With that rifle, she could push an empty .22 casing into tree bark, then back off to where it could barely be seen, and drive it into the tree. Her grandfather had been California state rifle champion a few times, and taught her to shoot.
Worked pretty well in Korea against the waves of Chinese.
Can’t even imagine the hew and cry from the left, especially the media, if they were shown film of this used on the ChiComs.

My grandfather hunted deer with .22 short for years until they made it illegal. Too many numbskulls leaving them wounded in the woods beause they either didn’t know where to shoot or couldn’t hit the barn door from the inside. Same for everyone he knew before it was made illegal. Country folks. Most of them could hit playing cards at 50 yards with any rifle. I was trained to shoot that way, starting at 5 years old. Wasn’t allowed in the woods till I could hit a .22 cartridge box 10 shots out of 10. Strict rule. Don’t let my grandfather find out you missed...he heard 2 shots, you BETTER bring back 2 rabbits...
Hit the base of the ear, a .22 short will drop a deer in its tracks every time. Squirrels and rabbits, just a head shot, I go for the eyeball, it’s the easiest target to see. I have to wait till a squirrel stops, can’t hit ‘em on the run any more. After they made it illgal to use .22 for deer, he used a 30-40 Krag, still went for the base of the ear...pretty much destroyed the entire head though...
That’s not the point. Quit feeding your enemies.
