Rep. Ilhan Omar, one of the first two Muslims elected to Congress, quickly dismissed Rep. Lauren Boebert’s claim that the two had had a fiery interaction in a Capitol elevator. Boebert claimed during a campaign stop over the weekend to have felt safer riding in the elevator with Omar once she determined Omar didn’t “have a backpack,” then said she greeted the Democrat by saying, “Oh, look, the Jihad Squad decided to show up for work today.”
The video of Boebert telling her story went around Twitter Thursday and that’s also where Omar responded: “Fact, this buffoon looks down when she sees me at the Capitol, this whole story is made up. Sad she thinks bigotry gets her clout.”

Prior to sending out her own tweet, Omar told a reporter that Boebert won’t even look at her, let alone talk to her, when they see each other at work.
Others spoke up in defense of Omar and Muslims at large, too, including Rep. Rashida Tlaib, the other Muslim woman in Congress. She tweeted, “These pathetic racist lies will not only endanger the life of @IlhanMN, but will increase hate crimes towards Muslims. The continued silence & inaction towards this hate-filled colleague and others is enabling violence. It must stop.”
Over the Thanksgiving break, Lauren Boebert said she was recently in a Capitol elevator with Ilhan Omar when a fretful Capitol police officer ran up.
Lauren Boebert said: “Well, she doesn’t have a backpack. We should be fine.”
Boebert then called Ilhan Omar, “jihad squad.”
Says the woman who by the way her last name is NOT Omar..she stole that name from another family who came here..who married her brother in order to commit immigration fraud. I would NOT want to be in the elevator with her either, Jihadist scum bag

Omar hates Jews and Israel. What makes think that her special kind of bigotry is ennobling but everyone else’s is immoral? Doesn’t she hear what she’s saying?
I’m not sure what to believe about that encounter.
I get what Lauren Boebert could have meant if she said anything about backpacks. I do. But if she did make that remark as described, it was not smart, since that only gives Omar something to loudly whine about and play the race or victim card.
AOC does the same thing every other week as a way to draw new waves of attention to herself.
If Lauren B. DID NOT make that remark, then set the record straight once, then move on. Talk to Fox News. Don’t get stuck in a pretentious war on rhetoric and semantics.
