Born in Rochester c 1940. It went downhill in the 70’s. Had a great youth in a great school....Downtown, the Goodie Shop, the Palace Theatre, Ontario Beach, Sea Breeze and fishing in the Bay. Plenty to do.
It was a great city. Now not so much. Look where they built the soccer stadium. An unsafe place, but had to be built there or David Gantt would not support. Should have built out at Elmgrove. Oh well.
I live in the southeast ‘burbs. Very nice. Burbs to the east, south and west also nice. City itself it the $hithole. Ten or 15 years ago Rochester mayor ran for county exec. (Roch within Monroe county). Is plan was to combine city with surrounding’ burbs as “metro government”

Born in Rochester NY Dec 1949. John Marshall High School, the RKO Palace Theatre and the Paramount, Ontario Beach, Ice cream cones at Abbott’s Frozen Custard, (Carvel’s, Carrol’s Hamburgers 22 cents), Sea Breeze (The Jack Rabbit roller coaster), Don & Bob’s, Schaller’s, submarine races at Durand Eastman, riding the escalator at Sibley’s. Bus transfers for 2 cents. Shopping plazas, Northgate, Eastway, Westgate, and South Town. Hockey games and ice skating and rock concerts at The War Memorial. French’s Mustard #1 Mustard Street. Drag racing down Main Street. Drive In Movies (Lakeshore, Central, Rochester, Starlite). F.W. Woolworth Co. 5 and 10c Store. (and the lunch counter!)
