Oe episode ended that way. Told to hand over the rifle he twirls it 360 and the bullet takes out the perp. I often wondered why Steve McQueen had to saw off his to do bounty work.

Since the idea is to load the round with the twirling, I assume the rifle is not loaded at the beginning of the twirl and does not actually chamber the round till the barrel is pointing downrange.
