I believe Baldwin was also the movie’s producer.
The producer, like the captain of a ship, is responsible for everything that goes on.
He’s responsible for hiring the prop person.
At a minimum, he’s facing a huge lawsuit.
Odds are pretty good in favor of a revolver. Revolvers as so easy to check.
the FR covid experts here are now suddenly movie prop experts
Among several questions I have is- had Alec been drinking at all? Also, even if the gun weren’t “hot” why was it being aimed at her?
And- are they making sure he’s not alone? He’s not a stable guy- potentially this could end badly.
One parked in his spot and the other photographed his bad side.
You would need artillery, at close range, for the gas from a blank to go through one person and hurt another person.
That’s a fair point - you do see the “staring down the muzzle” perspective in a lot of shots, so it could have been legitimate.
I’m wondering if nitwit was dinking around and trying to be silly. Prop gun or not, it shouldn’t have been pointed directly at anyone at close range, and second, with today’s remote camera systems, it isn’t necessary for a cinematographer or director to be sitting head on with a shooter if the shot required a gun to be fired toward the lens.
“ Baldwin is undoubtedly a POS, but this isn’t his fault.”
Wrong
ANYONE who handles a gun is responsible for it. It’s a core concept that you assume ALL guns are loaded. He likely outsourced that responsibility to others and because if that someone is now dead.
He’s also the producer, so it will be interesting to learn about the people he hired to handle and prepare the weapons.
I'm wondering if his famous temper made him try to threaten someone while thinking it was a prop. Fired it to intimidate.
If so it should be jail time for Alex.
Same thought here, just horsing around, points the gun and fires. Violates the two rules all responsible gun owners know: Never point the gun at a target you don't intend to shoot, and always assume the gun is loaded.
LOL, yeah just as his abuse of his daughter was addresed.
The two people that were shot were NOT in the movie as far as I know...needs some explaining.
We're missing a piece. Call Columbo...
Baldwin knows about guns...he was super anti-gun...and I'm sure he's done plenty of research over time.
Since he WROTE this movie...which is about an accidental shooting...one would think that he might have even picked out the gun.
Baldwin is a smart a**...nothing would surprise me.
An 1880 revolver....like my Roy Rogers cap guns.
I would think, even with props, no gun would ever actually be fired directly aimed at any person. Camera angles can make it look like it… I have to wonder what went on here…
Why would a director or anyone else knowingly let themselves be I the line of a barrel when they know it will be fired…
Blanks or not, no way I’m positioning myself down stream.
Accidents usually are the result of several failure… definitely have 2 identified at least.
Live round in the prop, and discharged with people in line of fire.
Ah... The Hollywood safety exception. I'm sure it would be expensive to design cameras so that the shot you describe could be achieved without aiming at a person. I don't think such a design would be impossible. Perhaps some combination of mirrors would do the job.
The adoption of such cameras requires a safety mindset that is incompatible with the arrogance of some people.
The safety rules as I practice them:
- Treat every gun as if it was loaded. - Never aim the gun at anything you are not willing to destroy. - Keep your finger off the trigger until ready to fire. - Be sure of your target and what is around and beyond it.The woman who was killed would be alive today if Hollywood always observed these safety rules.
Karma is not pleasant. Baldwin should commit suicide
I wouldn't give him credit for being able to do it safely.
I am reminded of a case of a teenage boy sitting at a table who committed suicide by shooting himself in the head. The bullet passed through his head and killed a girl standing next to him. How very sad.
