Brigadier General Henry Havelock was rushing to rescue the remnants of the British garrison at Cawnpore, as it was known that British women and children were being held hostage under appalling conditions. One of the regiments of the rescue force, the Highlanders, was in a fury to get there in time. Nothing would delay them. Havelock struggled to control them, but they were as enraged hounds struggling to break their bonds. But, they got there too late. The horrors they found there gave them their battle cry: “REMEMBER CAWNPORE!”

"why are there so many Americans in the sh*thole country?"

Because we supposedly turned it into a free nation with voting, girls going to school, rights for women, a stabilized central government rather than tribes. That attracted individuals (including ex-pats), business investors, NGO's, and numerous contracting companies.

Whether 20 or 40 thousand, they are spread all over Afghaniscrap. There is no saving them all. Right, let's take back Bagram military base at the large expense of ground troop lives. We can't bomb it or what would be the point?

Trump and Pompeo made the right exit deal with the head Taliban commander (now president). Trump told him, break the deal and all hell will rain down on you like no country has ever seen, to paraphrase. I read he also said, "If you attack one American citizen, we will destroy your leadership, communities, villages, friends and family." Sounds like he was ready to go Dresden on them.

Don't know how Biden can say he followed Trump's deal when Biden changed the date from May 1st to Aug. 31st and the method of leaving with no guarantees. The Taliban considered the Trump deal to be broken and the time to build and sweep across the country. Here we are today.

“Odds are zero.”

You are probably correct. This is going to be a real mess by the time it’s done.

Blinken and Nod don’t care about the Americans left behind.

Is Afghanistan a signatory to the Geneva Convention, or any of the chemical weapons protocols?

Reminds me of this: But by Christmas of 1941, Washington had already come to regard Bataan as a lost cause. President Roosevelt had decided to concentrate American resources primarily in the European theater rather than attempt to fight an all-out war on two distant fronts. At odds with the emerging master strategy for winning the war, the remote outpost of Bataan lay doomed. By late December, President Roosevelt and War Secretary Henry Stimson had confided to Winston Churchill that they had regrettably written off the Philippines. In a particularly chilly phrase that was later to become famous, Stimson had remarked, ‘There are times when men have to die.”

I don't know, but the US does not use chemical nor biological weapons anymore as we ARE a signatory of some world treaty/agreement. I can't recall which.

I say we test the theory. Take Blinken in cuffs, put a parachute on him, and drop him in the middle of Kabul and see if that’s really the case.

I suspect the 20th anniversary of 9/11 will be a watershed moment for the Taliban. The left would LOVE another 9/11, and we’ll get to see what kind of an abortion the military response may be. I suspect it’ll be a quisling moment for this administration.

Americans aren’t pissed off enough. Sad.

Interesting. Thank you for that explanation. imo it’s never wise to invest in, much less move to, a hostile nation even if there seems to be peace. Especially there. Those savages are always lying in wait and that’s what happened here. They already had their ‘game-plan’ in place just waiting for the opportunity to implement it.

None of this holds together. It just does not make sense. How can the decision be made to exit Afghanistan, without a plan to get all Americans out first?

And what about the stinger missiles, the helicopters, the digital database of Afghans identity all handed over to the Taliban?

The Taliban is now equipped as well as any army in the world, including the USA’s, in possession of endless arms, ammunition and equipment. All of these military supplies were left there by the Biden Administration. Why did they do that?

Why did Biden Harris Milley Blinken pull out all troops, leave behind American civilians and allied Afghan supporters, and now screw up this civilian exit on an epic scale? It just makes no sense. It is beyond incompetent. Any junior high school student could design a more effective tactical retreat.

This looks like wilful intentional grossly negligent debasement of the US presence in Afghanistan intended to demoralize America and its allies worldwide, to make our country look weak and ineffective, to pave the way for what purpose?

We already no longer believe our elections. Now we no longer believe in our military strength.

Why are these Marxist totalitarians in DC doing this?

Yes I know the answer. Frightening, isn’t it.

I would not assume that. We need to account for any and every American that is supposed to be in Afghanistan and also the ones who are not. We’ve discovered the “Jihad Johnnies” (John Walker Lind) and American Talibans (Adam Gadan) in the past and even though it was hard to imagine how they could do such a thing, it goes to show that it could happen again.

Granted, there may be a couple. After 6 months, even Jihad Johnny will be tired of the mess. You will have a society in collapse. Even the plumbers will be afraid to go to work. There won't be money to pay them. Kabul will devolve to something much worse.

Why is the secretary of state, a communist one at that, making decisions about getting Americans out of a military conflict?

We’re bound to have some kind of intelligence “assets” remaining over there and there are still some parts of Afghanistan that have not fallen to the Taliban. I would think that we’d want to have people there to observe the “process”, to ID weak links in their chain(s) and to ID any wayward Americans who choose to stay behind and any radicalized Americans who seek to escape back to America with Islamic jihad on their minds.

You're welcome and I totally agree with your assessment of moving there. However, when opportunity arises, Americans are at the forefront. Also remember, that craphole has many other Nationalities that have tried to build on our stupid nation building.

Interestingly, the Brits and French are sending in their Special Operations (commandos) to rescue their citizens in Kabul. You can ask why doesn't the US Seals, Delta, Rangers do the same? Reason, the Taliban hates the US more than any other country, except for maybe Israel.

If we tried the same, the Taliban would concentrate every resource against US rescue helos. Think of US helos full of American citizens being shot down by RPG's and shoulder fired missles. They would probably also start the destruction of the Kabul airport. I have NO military ground nor air expertise, I go by what I've learned from bad actors and bad regimes over the years and how they were opposed.

I see no way out for our citizens. I'm just astounded that Biteme's handlers DID NOT follow Trumps conditional drawdown with the Taliban, as much as Biteme and others claim they did to put it on Trump. But then, everything Biden has been doing is to negate the amazing successes that Trump had because Orange Man Mean Tweets.

As I've said in other threads, all Biden's handlers had to do is nothing about Trumps obviously successful policies. They would have been seen as moderates with high ratings, and then they would have more support for their destructive socialist legislation, the Squad commies notwithstanding.

This is a dream come true for Taliban intelligence units. Everyone they really want, is coming to one place, where they can be scooped up. After the scooping, the Americans can be held for ransom, they enemies of the Taliban State can be interrogated until they are empty husks and then either publicly executed or disappeared. Old Joe and the Commie Kids running his “administration” have literally done the Talibans work for them.
